Some time back I bought a used Toxocraft riser, by Bob Davis (Bobmeister) from another member here. I've noticed at every shooting session I would always grab that riser and shoot a few arrows before finishing. Then, I noticed the more and longer I shot, I grabbed that little 14" riser more and more. It finally dawned on me that I really enjoyed shooting the thing and it had become my favorite outfit.

It fits my hand perfectly, and I really like his dimpled grip. It's a very sound and stable little riser. It's as well made as any custom riser I've seen and his finish work is flawless. I really like its sleek and not-to-beefy appearance too. I hooked it up with a set of ACS longbow limbs and just can't seem to put it down.

I contacted Bob, late this past summer, and asked if he could make a 19" riser. He told me he'd been thinking about doing that very thing and would probably gear-up in the fall or winter and make a few more risers. Well.... Merry Christmas to me! He sent me a picture yesterday and said it was going in the mail. I feel like a kid. I can't wait to get my hands on this riser.

Here’s a link to another thread that shows Bob’s risers:

Enjoy your Xmas present Jim, and he even put the shelf of the correct side of the riser

Nice, I like it. Not overstated and looks like a great grip area. I like the 19" riser length as well.

Sweet! I look forward to hearing more about this one after you shoot it.

I have a Toxonics 14" riser and love it! Like Jim, it's my "go-to" riser.

I have 15" and 17" Toxonics risers on order. I guess I just can't get enough of a good thing.

not a fan of ILF looks , but that riser looks like an exception to me

thanks for showing

Just realized I said Toxonics in my earlier post...not sure wehre the came from.

I, of course, meant Toxocraft, which is a much better name.

My apologies to Bob.

Really nice! I have a 17" that I love and an 11" on order. He makes a fine riser.

Riser arrived in the mail this morning. I put those TR-7 limbs on it, set the tiller at 1/16 positive, set the bolts at mid-range, twisted the string up until I could barely see the bottom of the string grove (8 1/2"), tied on a knock point at 1/2" and shot four arrows. Merry Christmas to me! It's everything I expected. Thanks to Bob, for a beautiful riser.

A couple guys PM'd and wanted to see the profile of the bow. So... here you go. I'm thrilled with it.

Well... thought I'd bring this back up. After treating myself to the Christmas present, I thought I'd just as well order a birthday present too. So... I ordered a 17" RH riser.

Bob asked me what woods I wanted. I told him to just pick out the woods, and if it suited him, it would suit me. I'm thrilled--again. This guy knows how to make an outstanding riser. Happy Birthday, to me! :^)

Sweet! I've admired his work from afar, hope I get a chance to shoot one of his risers someday.

Jim, congrats on your risers. Am I seeing things or is one of them left-handed and the other right-handed?

I too received two risers, one 15” and one 17,” from Bob just after Christmas. They are both hickory and bocote, but each has the opposite pattern of the other.

These risers are extremely well designed and crafted…and they don’t look too bad either!!

In light of the Morrison ILF thread, I thought I would bring this to the top so folks could see a very fine alternative that often gets overlooked.

NYRON, you rascal, those bocote risers wouldn't leave my head. So.... I just had to pull the trigger on a 19" one. lol lol

Can't get enough, huh?

It's interesting how some are turned of by ILF when it's simply a different limb attachment, nothing more...nothing less. And, the ILF limb is now over 35 years old. Amazing. Seems today we are much more concerned with looks than function in archery.

I've not understood it either, George, One thing for sure, with risers like these, and Morrison, Border, Zipper and others, there's no need to sacrifice one for the other. You can have function and looks. It's a great time to be a stickbow shooter.

Hey George, it's kinda like lookin' down at your golf club, if it doesn't look good to your eye, you probably won't hit it well. At least in my case, can't stand ugly! But of course, as the old saying goes: "beauty is in the eye......." I do love the looks, feel, and shootability of the Zippers, Dyes, Blacktails, Stalkers, etc. They mostly do shoot as well as they look.

Ha, Jim. Gotcha! That 19 incher is beautiful.

George, I agree. In my opinion, the ILF system is the best tool-free TD available.

I think many who are turned off by ILF bows, might see them as too complicated. And, in some respects I can see why.

The bow itself is very simple, but manufacturer's haven't done themselves any favors by not being more clear and consistent about how limbs are weighted with respect to riser length and limb pad angle. It's getting better, but I can see how confusing it must seem when one company rates their limbs on a 19" riser, one on a 17" riser, and another does not give ratings based on riser length at all. Not to mention, standard ILF limbs are rated on a 25" riser.
