If archery or fishing tackle were left in a padded case and placed on the floor in a trunk of a car, would it definitely suffer heat related damage in the warmer months and what would any effects of very cold temps be if stored this way as well. Ive never done this, but wondered....

Hard to really tell to what degree if any? We all know we aren't supposed to leave things unprotected. It happens at times and TG none of mine were ever damaged that I could identify with. Extreme heat and extreame cold not good. In a padded case I think its more protected but still the same best to protect to be sure.

IF the archery bow is unbraced..I think much will depend not so much on temperatures the car's trunk gets..BUT more on the humidity the items were exposed to..and how the case resisted humidity.. Pretty simple to store-keep items inside in a mroe controllable ambient and load 'em up when you are going afield or for the fishing..Also no risk that IF your car was rear-ended or someone steals or bushwhacks your care and gets your things..Jim

Yes, It gets way to hot in a car trunk for a lam bow. I had one strung in the front seat and left it in direct sunlight , it was October so I figured it would be alright. i cam back and the top limb let go.

What Snake said are my feelings also. Most of the time if I have the slightest feeling that I shouldn't do something, then I better not. Skeet

To tell the truth, I get figeity if I leave my bow braced & inactive for longer than 10 or 15 minutes in the sunlight, worse if in a closed trunk or vehicle. Besides just how long of a time does it take to un-brace a bow using a stringer?

Leaving a bow braced esp in direct sunlight( other than when one is hunting Arizona)..:) can cause problems..

If you are carrying it hunting and it get's too hot to hold? It's just TOO DAMN hot for you or the bow( or the game..:) I am a proponent of unbraceing one's bows when not in use ..

The fishing tackle will suffer from humidity same as a bow and arrows-broadheads.. I dont leave ANYTHING in my rigs when left unattended for any time..I also don't lock my rigs..:) Rather they rifle thru( there's nothing to steal) rather than busting a widnow or door to gain entry..:)..Jim

Vehicle cabs get very hot in summer due to their windows. Trunks don't get as hot. A bow, or fishing rod, in a case that prevents the sun from hitting it directly will protect it nicely. I've carried, unstrung bows and fishing rods in cases in my vehicle cab and truck bed for about 50years now without mishap.

That being said, I don't store them there. Vehicles are bouncing around all the time. Stuff gets put in and taken out of trunks, sometimes not gently. There are better places to store those items long term.

If the bows strung it'll come apart in the heat. I've never had a problem with cold tho. If the bows not strung it depends on the bow. If it was glued up with a lot of bend and pressure to the lams it'll still delaminate.

I don't think it hurts fishing tackle at all either way. I've carried a Fenwick Iron Feather 6wt. fly rod in my truck for most of 20 years and it still casts and catches fish as well today as it did when I got it.

If archery or fishing tackle were left in a padded case and placed on the floor in a trunk of a car, if you opened it up would a woman hear it?

I live in Arizona, so my experience says don't ever leave anything in your truck that can warp or melt. One time I left my tackle box in the bed of my truck while I went inside for about 30 minutes. I came back out and my crankbaits got so hot some of them blew up, the air pressurized inside and then the plastic got soft, then some of them let go. I would say don't leave anything in the trunk, its just not worth the risk.
