A friend asked me to make a string for a bow he found in a barn. Date shows 5.2.54. Was wondering if any one knows what this bow is. Search only turns up Samic bows with the model stag.

That's S.L 54, meaning "string length 54" sorry, not familiar with the make

Thank you, that's a step in the rite direction. A friend of mine thinks the serial number may be indicating April of 74.

Thanx Bill

I'm guessing it's a United States Archery Company. That's what it looks like. Maybe York or White. Interesting find. At first I thought it was American Archery, but the inked specs are different. It look's like early to mid 60's.

I was thinking York also, but certainly not sure on that. And yes, that says S.L. 54" meaning string length.

i believe that the bow is from the 50's or 60's for sure. the grip shape, the flat filed shelf, and the recurve fit into the bows from that era.

Thanx for all the feed back guys. I shoot long bows and self bows and never got into the re curves but older bows get my attention regardless of what they are. The recurves I've tried seem to have a narrow throat where the web of your hand slides in. Maybe around 1.25", this one is 2". Don't know if that means anything but found it interesting.

It's a Ply-Flex Stag I'm pretty sure. They are the only ones I ever remember doing their lettering that way.
