One of the things I miss most about Fred Bear is his laughter and his sense of humor. He loved a good joke.
This is a set of photos I keep framed in my office of Fred as I told him a funny story. By the end of the joke his shoulders were rocking with laughter.
Fred never took himself too seriously and was never too busy to spend time talking to a skinny kid from West Virginia. There was very little ego and lots of things to admire about Fred.

Thanks John! Hope you have a good one too.
I think these photos were around 1986, two years before he passed away.
What a great man.

Thanks gang, appreciate it.
Jawge, I have enjoyed your friendship too my friend. I write about Earl Hoyt, Fred Bear, etc to keep their name out there but I sure have had friends from all walks of life and archers are the best folks around. You and I have shared some laughs, fine meals and a great friendship. Thanks Jawge.
Leatherwall has allowed me to meet so many great folks, many I remain close friends with.

Thanks for those candid pics of one of my heroes. I regret never meeting the man but it was my fault and not his. He sure made access to him available during his years, all over this country and others.

I remember the joke isn't one I am proud of.. I was a teenager then and it was the kind of joke you'd tell in a locker room... But Fred liked jokes and got a big laugh out of it. His laughter was contagious and by the time he was in a full laugh his entire body rocked with laughter... These photos show him headed into that kind of laugh...
