Hey Guys- I just picked up a Robertson Fatal Styk off the auction site and was wondering if someone could help me out with the woods. The picture is from ebay and is terrible, so I apologize. When I reference the Robertson site I don't see wood choices that resemble the photo. Any ideas? Thanks, Marc

Probably reflections and lighting... poor photography skills!

There's something similar in the gallery section of the Robertson site and they say it is Rosewood. Would they be dying rosewood?

Robertson used to make bows that they referred to as their economy line, just as today they make Wolfers that are camo dipped and considerably less expensive than the run of 70...that looks like one of those "e"bows...very serviceable bow that will be a great shooter...just hope you did not pay an X,Y or Z price for it...Vicki knows the bows as well as Yote or Dick do...give her a call or contact her on Facebook...the whole family are a class act

Thanks Dave. I did get what seemed like a reasonable price. The decription on ebay said it was less than a year old, so I don't know if that matters. If you zoom in on the fuzzy pic, it looks like a Z riser. I guess I'll contact Robertson directly and see what they say. Cheers, Marc

The bow arrived today. The woods appear to be Bocote and a charcoal Diamondwood.

This is the first Robertson bow I've shot and I have to say I'm impressed! With the first half dozen arrows I shot, 2 were in a 3' bullseye at 20yrds. The other 4 were within 8" or less of that. I didn't need to "get a feel" for the bow. The grip felt perfect and I had no trouble getting bullseyes right from the get go. Not to mention this thing zips arrows like a rocket! I'm a very happy camper...

My guess with that combination is that the bow is an economy riser together with some regular limbs (which are anything but regular)...as far as I know all the Fatal Styks will accept the newer limbs without any fitting...they will even work with the Raven Styk hybrid limbs...if a Fatal Styk grip feels perfect for you it will kind of spoil you for anything else...I was just thinking the other day that I sure do miss mine...only traded it because of some left shoulder issues...of course once I get my Wolfer that feeling may go away very quickly

Thanks Dave. Although I hate to hear that it might be an "economy bow", the fact of the matter is I like it and I shoot it well! I did contact Robertson and both Vikki and Yote got right back to me. They weren't sure what the woods were either due to the poor photo, but now that I have a serial number they said they can track it down for me. Great folks to deal with, for sure.

Understand that a Robertson "economy" riser would still be a very good riser, just built with different materials than the more expensive bows...I am sure a 1200 dollar Wolfer shoots every bit as well as a 1700 dollar Wolfer...the only difference is the way they look
