i'm going to be in the market for a new bow after season is over. I'm selling off the compound equipment to fund the another traditional bow. I have done a few test drive bows from Stalker and Black Widow. I'm liking the longbows better overall so far. South at Stalker said he could do a slim grip and the PL series at Black Widow were sweet. The Stalker shot amazing as well. I was wondering other companies to look at that had slimmer grips? I have smaller hands and the slimmer grips seem to feel better and sit better in my hand. I like the way the Striker bows look along with Bushman as well. The only thing is that i don't think they offer a test drive program to try them out. I did want to try Tomahawk bows as well. Would love to hear your thoughts. It's going to be for hunting.

I have a great northern lil creep, great shooting bow. I'm just more partial to my recurves. I haven't gotten the opportunity to shoot any other great northern bows but many people have spoken highly of them. I'm not sure about a test drive from them though.

the choices are near endless. fox archery, wes Wallace, northern mist longbows, great northern bows and Yellowstone bows are just a few that have slimmer grip options. most bowyers in my experience will offer a bow to test drive provided they have one near your specs. it usually requires a deposit of some type, with a refund when the bow is returned. if the test drive is not advertised, call and ask.

There are an enormous number of great bows out there on the market today. I have shot quite a few of them. They all have their pros and cons. Everyone has their own opinion of the best bow on the market. With that being said, I seem to just about always reach for one of my striker bows. I am not sure about the test drive option but it never hurts to call or email for more information. The worst a bowyer can say is no.

I'm not looking for a "best bow" per say. I'm just looking for some slim grip options on bowyers i haven't looked at yet. I agree though that the possibilities are endless and tons of great folks making some killer bows and equipment. I didn't think of asking for a test drive. I had been just looking to see if most offered it and if i didn't see i never asked but i will now just to see. I have talked to Dusty at Striker, Steve at Bushmen and South at Stalker a ton and they are great guys. I would like to try a couple more before i make the choice so that is what i'm looking for is a few more ideas and you all have started a good list so far so thank you and keep the ideas coming if you think of any.

If leaning towards longbows, you may check Foley Bows, Ron make a great 1pc and a 3pc. TD longbow and should be able to shape a grip to your liking . . .
Predator Longbows and as mentioned Sarrels . . .

Be sure to consider 21 Century bows. They are slim, and offer a variety of grip configurations. Also very popular with many longbow champions.

I recently bought a couple old Wing Slim Lines. One is a Vantage Pro and the other is a Pro Hunter. Granted they are recurves but When you said you have small hands they came to mind. They have the smallest---nicest grip of any recurve I have and they shoot great. A bonus is the cost. You should be able to find one for under $250 if you are patient.

No one can say you won't be disappointed with a certain bow. You may love it as much as they do if it fits, but if it doesn't you may well be disappointed. And it may be one of those, the grip fits, but the overall bow doesn't work for you.
Everyone here is being honest about what they like, love or whatever...but that really isn't what will make the bow work for you. I guess at some point you may have to take a chance though if you can't find one to shoot.

Just as an example of what George just said ~ my second bow was bought sight unseen.I ordered this custom recurve and waited quite a few months before getting it. I paid a lot of money but never could shoot that bow well. Do yourself a favor and attend an event like ETAR if you can. There you can shoot a plethora (gotta love that word lol) of bows and make a good decision. At any rate, I can guarantee you'll love the traditional world. Happy shopping!

Do what I do buy them used shoot them and resale if you don't like. Imo it takes at least a month to 6 weeks to really determine if a bow is a keeper. I see all these month old 1k custom bows for sale and I just shake my head and think someone took a helluva hit on that.

I agree on buying used also. Nothing wrong with that in my book. I do have a question though. I do see a lot of negative comments on buying a used stick. Is it the same as buying a used compound or are there more variables i'm not aware of? Or is it just a crap shoot on if they are taken care of properly?

Also is there a big difference in the metal riser bows vs. a custom wood? I shot a buffalo for a couple of years and shot it very well but after i tried the Stalker and the Widow i found that i prefered a long bow over that. Thoughts?

I've bought and trade around 50 trad bows and only had one that was not taken care of and gave me problems. Ask for lots of pictures and only buy from folks that have a good post history. Folks that are a member of a community don't want to tarnish their reputation and will make sure that the represent the bow truthfully.
As for metal riser or wood I like them all and have some of each.
