Can anyone give info on a Shakespeare Wonderbow it is marked 55" and 40@28. What model is this? Do they stack past 28"?. Good bow, any info appreciated thanks, Craig

There were dozens of models of bows marketed under the "Wonderbow" brand. A detailed description (colour, shape, wood in riser etc) and pictures, especially of the writing on the bow is needed to identify it.

If it's a 55" recurve made of wood and glass and rust coloured it's possibly an early production Necedah...more info please.

I think 55" would definitely be the early Necedah. I think the first Necedah...successor to the Root Warrior, came out in 1964. It was 55" for just 2 years in my memory before going to 58". A great bow and said to be one of Bob Savage's favorites. As for stack, I imagine it's fine until you get past 28". I never had the 55", but the 58" is smooth to past 29".

Shakespeare bought Root in 67 so it would be prior to that. They both had bows coming out of the same factory..according to Larry Root for many years. Would be nice to have how that worked in a literal sense.

elbow,

If it's 55" and looks like the ones in the above photos, it's definitely a Necedah. I've owned a couple as well as a 55" Root Brush-Master like the one in Rooty's photos (except mine has red glass). They were identical except the Shakespear version was a touch slimmer. They're excellent bows and have handled my 32" draw length well (although they do stack a touch at that length).

Have 2 Necedah 55"ers. Great shooters. 45# with Barbee string really performs well.
