Bought this little Bow a while back. It was advertised as a Wasp (which it is obviously not). Actually looks a lot like a Safari to me, and it IS 54" when measured across the belly. However, there are NO markings on the bow except for the words "composite deluxe". Also looks like a Browning finish. The tips have the same overlay colors/material as the Browning also, However, whereas they were usually squared off these are shaped to a rounded point. Bow does NOT look refinished despite the lack of markings. So my question is, did Browning make plane Jane variations of their line for department stores like Bear and others did? And could this be one of those?

Predecessor to the Safari I and Nomad I. Great little bows and quality shooters. I suspect they are first year models (1963) and that's why they aren't marked well.

I've seen the Spartans before. Didn't realize they were made for another retailer. Interesting theory George. I wouldn't have guessed it as that old, but don't have anything to base that on.

I agree with George. I have a Safari, the tips look real similar to yours but the grip is a different shape.

Are there by chance wedges in the tip laminations?

No wedges in the tips. Scales a very pleasant #48 at my 28.5" draw. Well mannered for a short bow. Like most of the Brownings I've owned or shot.
