Just would like to let every one know, that this could be my final post on PA. I got the results back from my CT SCAN yesterday, confirming that I have Cerebellar Ataxia. Over time, I will or can, loose most of my motor skills. Walking, driving, able to stand up with out falling and on and on. No way to tell how soon, or how bad it can get, that is out of the doctors and my control. There is no cure, as of now, so it is what it is.

I spend more time trying to correct spelling on my post, that I used to typing it. My eye sight will not let me read very good so all this will eventually come to a close.

I just want to say to every one a huge thank you for being part of my life, and sharing what we all love to do. Unfortunately, my time has all but come to a close as far as being able to do anything archery related, hunting, fishing and just about any thing actually.

I will never forget what some of you have done for me, and cherished every minute that I had a chance to share time with you.. Some I have never met, and never will, but again I thank you for the most wonderful ride I could have ever taken.

My one goal in life way to make it to a classic. I made two of them. and can recall almost every minute of those trips. So wonderful to share with all of you.

So if you don't see me around, just know you all are still in my thoughts and will ever be so. [pray]

Charles, I don't know or evr will be able to tell you how to deal with this is one person who or your illness. I do know that there is only one that will ultimately determine your fate with this. It takes faith in Jesus Christ and the will of the father, and a self determination to find the good in any situation. I will pray for you my friend and your peace of mind no matter the outcome. God Bless everyone involved.

Charles, I am sorry to hear of your health issue. I wish I could say for sure that through prayer Jesus will heal you, obviously I cannot. But I know that he loves you beyond anything that you and I can understand. And he has promised by our faith in him, that he will never leave us nor forsake us. We are none of us promised tomorrow in this world, but forever in the next by our faith in him! Please know my prayers will be offered for your health and recovery, all healing comes from God. Take heart in God's wonderful word, there and only there will you find the relationship with the Lord that will give you the strength that you are going to need. God bless and keep you Charles, be strong in the Lord my friend. Gary.

I read your post Charles, and some of your posts from the past, and want to let you know that you have, and are making, a difference in many peoples lives by your interventions and comments in this small community of men and women who share a love of the stickbow.

I can only then assume that the same wisdom and insight you shared and displayed here have touched other people in your life in your interactions with them...I believe that what others think of us in life and the good acts we have done define our place in the hearts and minds of humanity and constitutes an aspect of immortality.

Your post was courageous and made us all think about what is precious and important...you will be in my thoughts and your words and example will stay with me.

May your upcoming days be made better through the love and caring of friends and family.

Best regards

Peter

Charles, you don't know me and I don't know you, but I do know Jesus Christ as many of the men on the wall do, I know God heals, even when one gets a bad report from the Drs, I believe God can heal you, he healed me and he is not a respecter of persons, they gave me two years to live fifteen years ago, and I'm still here, all the promises of God are yes and amen to those who are in Christ Jesus' have faith and be steadfast in prayer believing God is able to meet your need and promises to do so. God has the final word, and you will not leave this planet one moment before you are supposed to. Stay in the word, stay in prayer, keep his commandments, which He has written on our hearts, everything will go the way it is supposed to go, keep the faith and know a lot of men are praying for you, don't give up. May Gods countenance shine upon you and your family.

I agree with Dire Wolf , Sailor and others that God not only can but will heal you if, if, you will go to Him and trust Him. I have been in a battle with melanoma for seven years. Instead of treatment with surgery and doctors after the diagnosis I made a decision on my own to go to God with this and trust him. After all He made me so who better to heal me. I can tell you that many times during these seven years I have questioned that decision but in the end of each questioning session I could and would not give up on trusting God to either heal me or take me. Presently I have eight or nine large scars where cancer was and is no more. I have had doctors tell me that unless I did this or that that I would die. I believe that they were sincere and what they said scared me. I will not lie about it. I even had one doctor tell me how it would go down and how terrible it would be and how I was not doing right by my family and what they would suffer and go through because of my stubbornness. I still decided to trust in God. Now I am healed. I would not say that unless it were true. It is gone. Where large open pulsing wounds were that hurt terribly there are now only scars with nice pink skin instead of cancers.

Be healed in the name of Jesus. God bless you, Strengthen you , encourage you and heal you,. Steve

If I may, i would like to share my story with you. I'm not a doctor, but i lost my mobility last May. I've had over 10 X-RAYS, SCANS, ULTRASOUNDS(2) CT SCANS MRI. there is nothing WESTERN MEDICINE can do and now I go to the PAIN CLINIC WEEKLY AND GET A 4" injection in my groin, into the nerve that is causing the problem. At my VScular surgeons request, I set up an appt with a highly regarded ACCUPUNCTURIST. within the opening 10 minutes she was able to gove a diagnosis. She layed me down on her table and proceeded to stick multiple small needles in both arms and in both legs. PAINLESS She then wired The two needles into my MEDIDIAN NERVE. Connected a LOW VOLTAGE ELECTRICAL CURRENT On the needles. Immediately a pulsing feeling started in both needles. PAINLESS 30 minutes later she took my cane and set it aside and asked that I get off the table unassisted. I looked at her (She's a quack?) I got off the table and she made me walk to her office unassisted, then told me to sit down without assistance. The rest of the story is obvious. I left her office, cane held horizontally, and walked down 2 flights of stairs and into my car. ........??????? She tells me that within 4 weeks the MERIDIAN NERVE will be totally heeled. $60 / visit covered by my supplementL insurance.

I'm not saying ACCUPUNCTURE can solve the Diagnosis you've been handed. But it could, I think maintain your mobility for an extended period of time. As for spelling. Buy an IPad tablett and use SIRI you speak and she does the typing without spelling errors.

I wish all the luck and sincerely hope you at a least give this procedure a chance. The quality of your life could be greatly increased.

From: Acadien

As for my archery, I bought a shot chair from Bass Pro. I've been shooting sitting for 6 months. I group better now then I did standing. Go figure. Chair is called BLACKOUT. transportable by a shoulder strap. Swivels 360 without noise, telescopic for uneven terrain. Holds up to 300#, all for $80

A positive mental approach will make this sentence you've been handed much more tolerable and then with SIRI, WE CAN CONTINUE TO ENJOY YOUR POSTS.

In reality anyone of us can probably say the same thing because life is but a whisp and we can depart at any time anyone of us. I guess for any of us all we can do to get prepaired is to ask for wisdom in getting ready and grace to go quickley and courage to face it when it comes.

Lord watch over this fellow and show him mercy and please give him the courage to stand up under any of this. Please provide courage for the family and friends that surround him as well they all are in need. Help us to reflect on any part of this Lord when we hear things like this so that we can give comfort and we ask you to please hear the prayers of many.WQe pray all things in the name of Jesus our Lord.

Amen

Charles, I've never heard of Cerebellar Ataxia but thank you for reminding me there's some things in life much more important than politics, crossbow arguments, anti-hunters, and the price of gas. It's a sober awakening to realize in the overall scheme of things these are all petty matters. Good luck to you, sir, and God Bless! We'll be praying for you.

On a side note, you could always have your wife or another loved one/friend take dictation and do the typing for you here so you can stay involved. Just a thought!

The Five Remembrances…

I am of the nature to grow old. There is no way to escape growing old.

I am of the nature to have ill health. There is no way to escape having ill health.

I am of the nature to die. There is no way to escape death.

All that is dear to me and everyone I love are of the nature of change. There is no way to escape being separated from them.

My deeds are my closest companions. I am the beneficiary of my deeds.

? When I first encountered this chant, I thought it was rather bleak. I suspect I’m not alone. I thought it was bleak, but it also spoke to my existential side – old age, sickness, death, meaninglessness, being and nothingness, the sickness unto death. It brought up images of smoking cigarettes in a college café, discussing Camus and flirting with girls. The philosophy I was comfortable with, but over time, repeating this teaching again and again, I have come to see that it is deeper and more profound as it works its way below the level of philosophy. As it points to the deepest truths of our lives as we live them in this moment, in this day-to-day-ness. ? Life wants to be close to us. It is our basic and most fundamental nature to be one with the warp and woof of all things. Our basic nature is intimacy, embraced by the community of the ten thousand things. Your life longs to be close to you and is waiting patiently, right now, right beside you. ? However, we tend to suffer an intense sense of separation from our lives. We feel isolated and alone, off balance, off track, lost, confused, a stranger in a strange land. Something inside us seems to be missing or broken and we spend our lives trying to find our missing piece. This sense of dis-ease is what the existential philosophers tried so hard to put words on, perhaps in the hope that naming the enemy would help us to conquer it. Others have talked about this missing-ness as a God-shaped hole, suggesting this is what it feels like to have been tossed out of Eden, that we suffer our separation from God.

? For me, this is what the five remembrances is about, medicine for our fundamental illness. A prescription that identifies the cause and prescribes the course of therapy. We shove intimacy out the door almost by accident as we are busily pushing away the parts of our life that scare us, that make us uncomfortable, that unnerve us. The five remembrances point directly and without mincing words at the big four, the four horsemen of our apocalypse, old age, sickness, death, and the constantly changing nature of everything and everyone we hold dear. The five remembrances guide us to reconcile with our lives, to open the door and set the table for a friendly brunch. I am of the nature to grow old, there is no way to avoid growing old. I am of the nature to have ill-health, there is no way to avoid having ill-health. I am of the nature to die, there is no way to avoid death. All that is dear to me and everyone I love are of the nature of change. There is no way to avoid being separated from them. ? It has become increasingly clear to me that there is no way to avoid only parts of my life and yet remain intimate with the rest. The only way to avoid the uncomfortable parts of my life is to avoid my life altogether. The most classic case of throwing the baby out with the bathwater. It is also becoming increasingly clear to me that the only way out is through. The direction of happiness, joy, contentment, vibrancy, and all-right-ness is to simply stop holding life at arms length. ? Yes, I am of the nature to grow old. I will not hold my life at bay. ? Yes, I am of the nature to have ill-health. I will not turn away. ? Yes, I am of the nature to die. I will know this moment as precious. ? Yes, I will be separated from all that I love. I will love anyway. ? My deeds are my closest companions, I am the beneficiary of my deeds, my deeds are the ground on which I stand. To me this points the way to whole hearted engagement with life, holding nothing back, doing each thing for all its worth. Sitting here with this beloved Sangha (people close to us), just to sit, just to breathe, just to live this moment and keep each other good company. Just to stand, just to bow, just to eat, just to sleep, just to fluff the pillow and roll over, just to be stuck in traffic, just to argue with the boss, just to be irritated by the racket, just to intend to save all beings. ? I suspect this is the pay-off for not turning away from the things that scare us. We get to have our lives back. It also, paradoxically, contains the freedom we seek. In this world of old age, sickness, death, and separation, right here in the intimacy of this moment, there is also no old age, no sickness, no death, no separation. In this world of not-two, there is no hole, we are complete and perfect. Suzuki Roshi said something like, “you are perfect just the way you are, and you could use a little work.”

BEING WITH THINGS AS THEY ARE and STILL NEVER GIVING UP (like with the accupuncture)!
