Just a reminder: the first 3D shoot for the "Strictly Sticks Traditional Archers" Winter 2014-2015 Season will be next Sunday, November 23, at the East Huntingdon Sportsmens Association clubhouse in Alverton, Pennsylvania, between Scottdale and Mount Pleasant, in Westmoreland County.

We'd like to welcome back all of our loyal friends and attendees, AND invite any Traditional Archer who may have heard about "Sticks" but has never attended one of our 3D shoots. Just bring your longbow, recurve or selfbow, a handful of arrows, and your willingness to relax, laugh, and carry on as is normally found at "Sticks"....

As usual, nothing can be promised about the weather. But after reading the stories from the PA Bowsite threads, and seeing all the Facebook "selfies" of folks all layered up and sitting in tree stands, a little walk over the hillsides of the clubhouse course with friends and bows could be just what you need, even if it's no longer 60 degrees outside!

As the pictured flier notes, we'll start things up at 8 AM, and go til 1 PM. And if you feel like shooting the course more than once, that's always been OK with us.

Tell your friends about this first shoot, if they are not on the computer. And invite any new Archers that you may know. It's not "high stakes" or "cut-throat competition": it's just "Strictly Sticks"!

Questions? Comments? Ask here, or on our FaceBook page "Strictly Sticks Traditional Archers", or email us at [email protected]

Thanks for your consideration! Hope to see you next Sunday!

Wojo, that sounds great! You know how we go over at "Sticks": just show up with your bow, meet up with your old friends (and maybe some new ones), then go shoot the course. Pretty simple! We'll do our best to present a fun, and challenging course. I'll be sitting at the registration table...still deciding on what hat I'll be wearing on my noggin......!!! Heheheheh!!

Dave, your gonna bring yer leaf blower, right? Just in case Randy missed some. Thanks.

Randy, we need to make this course challenging since it's the first shoot lol

From: Wojo14
Date: 17-Nov-14

I agree! I like a good challenging course!

From: Trad-freak
Date: 18-Nov-14

That's no problem I will make some tough shots

Trad-freak, we're looking at 10 across Nuclear Creek, and 20 clubhouse side. We'll need to keep the rifle range accessible for other club members who will be siting in their rifles, so it looks like crossing Nuclear Creek straight up the hill, then turn right, following the path above the trap range. Clubhouse side: we're gonna have fun, probably starting at the edge of the parking lot, and going for a hike up and down the hills.

Thursday eve, we'll decide on Saturday's set-up time, for what's convenient for everyone....

Then, we'll see all yinz Sunday!

The Chief and I will be there 9:30ish.

Wojo we shoot every single Thursday year round unless it happens to be a holiday like thanksgiving coming up

From: Wojo14

roger that! i might start making it a usual thursday thing again for me.

Wojo, we tried a couple of small stuffed critters up on the bales of hay, just for something different. You know, those things are tougher to stick than they look. Sure, we'll shoot out their plastic eyes or noses, but most shots the arrows bounce off! Never knew targets to fight back like that! So, yeppers, we shoot Thursdays, from around 6 til 8:15 PM or so. No fireworks, no bands, no bar. Just bows, arrows, bales, the DART system, social comraderie, and either good or bad shooting, depending on how your day has been.....!!!!

THANK YOU to all who will be attending this Sunday! We wouldn't have these events if it were not for you.....

LOL! Randy, my daughter has tons of stuffed animals. Maybe I can donate one or 2?! I will try and make it out this thur

Looks like good weather for tomorrow. I have some distant friends joining the shoot tomorrow. See you at 0800!

"Wojo, we tried a couple of small stuffed critters up on the bales of hay, just for something different."

That reminds me of the time my good friend Gary Foxwell and I set up a shooting range in my garage. Targets were whatever we thought needed shot: Michael Jackson CD's, naked Barbies, a Mr Coffee, Chuck Adams pictures, an old cassette player, etc.

Not a bad way to spend a winter evening! :)

I sure miss that guy. I thought of him today as I entered the woods in search of squirrels. We used to hunt squirrels at my place every Saturday after deer season was over.

Gang, we have the course set up. It is all on the clubhouse side, out of respect to the many club members who were using today to sight in their rifles for the quickly approaching bear and deer season. Better to be out of the way of stray bullets, and live to set up an archery course, than the other possibilities. Just clear your memories of any expected pathway!! See yinz all tomorrow. AND THANK YOU, from THE CREW!

Red, a "Michael Jackson Memorial CD Shoot" might be a good Archer Golf shoot theme...... Too bad I didn't see your post before we set up today's course......

Decided to slice open my fingers on a ceiling light. Plus I got scheduled to work so I won't be primal tomorrow.

I will be in the road here in about 45 minutes. Hope to make it with out any problems. See everyone soon.

Red, that's funny! Chuck Adams, why? Just curious. I understand Michael Jackson! Lol I have been trying to get out on some small game this year. Never happened. I will be putting the orange on and taking the recurve out for round 2 on the bucks in a week!

Come on Dale face it. It was just to warm for your loin cloth today. Probably a good thing you didn't show then. PS hope the fingers heal.

THANK YOU to all of you attending Strictly Sticks first 3D Traditional shoot of the 2014-2015 season!

Yes, like "hawkeye in PA" said, we were blessed with a beautiful day! Yesterday, setting up the course in all that cold drizzle and rain...well, it dampened our spirits a bit. But, at 8 AM this morning, there was no rain, the sun was out, and the parking lot was filling quickly with Archers.

To quote a really funky 1970s disco song, "That's the way, uh-huh, uh-huh, we like it, uh-huh, uh-huh!!"

42 Archers took to the hills with bows and arrows. 42 Archers returned. (!!) Maybe not with all their arrows, but a sacrifice to the arrow gods is often just the talisman needed for future good shooting.

We had Archers from literally down the street from the club, to one Archer, Leatherwall's "GLangley" driving from Cleveland, leaving his home around 5 AM. And he stayed until the event was over. That is dedication to Traditional Archery! Greg, it was great to meet you; you made OUR DAY with YOUR EFFORTS to try a new shoot, at such a far drive for you!

THANK YOU to everyone, including all the other Leatherwallers who've posted here, who made Sticks a part of their pre-Thanksgiving schedules. We hope you enjoyed yourselves, we hope you return, and we hope to continue presenting an activity that warrants your efforts to join us!

Happy Thanksgiving, and see you in December!

Signed: The Crew of Strictly Sticks

PS: And to you "local folks", we've been shooting every Thursday eve (except Holiday Thursdays), from 6 til 8:15 PM or so, and we'll resume next week after this Thanksgiving week is over. You've seen the wall of bales, you've probably seen the DART room....we shoot both. And we gab and laugh a bit doing so....!!!! Join us....
