Looks good. But is that Bigfoot hair?.

I shoot split finger.. This is a two layer cordovan tab stitched up with B50 bowstring..

At least 10 years old. Countless thousands of arrows draw with it..

The bit of scuffing is from my nock set( I nock the arrow over the nockset) Jim

And another pic of the cordovan tab on my hand. I trim the tab so with it in place and hand open-flat..the end of the tab is just a tad past the end joint of my 3 fingers.. Shooting with a deep hook..that's plenty of tab-protection..Jim

Nice bunch of tabs. The hair is seal skin slicker than owl sh... Well you know.

Going to be nice to have one of those.

Hey rick, nice looking tabs. What type of nylon webbing are you usinG and how are you keeping the edges from fraying.

From: camodave
Date: 14-Nov-14

Rooty too bad you gave up the secret...I was thinking we could have made a fortune selling those tabs as "Genuine Canadian Bigfoot Hair Tabs"

Nice. Been thinkin about makin one myself. Why do tabs have layers?

From: Rick Barbee Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

LOL Aaron. Next you'll be asking what color my underwear is. 8^)

MF, a single string face layer does the job. Extra layers are simply to achieve the level of comfort a shooter desires. Some want more, some want less.

Boringly simple. One layer, thick enough. Been using them for about 12 or more years, one right & one left.

Mine has two cordovan layers. Bends nicely to conform within my hook o' choice, and I can easily feel the string's pressure in the proper location without strangling the nerves running through my bony, thin-skinned digits.

I make my tabs too, but right now I am shooting a tab I bought that has an O ring for the finger and it is by far the best finger attachment for a tab that I have ever used. As soon as I can figure out a way to attach an O ring to a tab, I'm gonna put them on my own tabs and shoot those.

Lots of great tabs, but I just cannot stand the leather holes for the finger like most of these have. I don't know why either. My O ring is in contact with my finger, but I just don't like the feeling of those tabs like those shown here. I might try it again tomorrow after seeing this thread.

I was lucky enough a couple years ago to get a piece of cordovan from a fellow member that is about 2 feet square. I still have a pretty good bit of it to play around with. It's not the first rate Horween cordovan though. You know, the really tough stuff that doesn't bend much. I'd like to have some of that too, just to try.

Rick

I like the "B" (Barbee) stitching pattern in your tabs. Nice touch.

Thanks Ross.

That was actually purely by accident. An inadvertent result of the design of the tab, but I was pretty tickled with it. 8^)

Rick; That seal pelt is from my home province..Newfoundland.The quiver pictured was made by a friend there.I am going to make an arm guard from it later when we get snow bound. I would be happy to send you a piece forone of your wonderful strings if I could, unfortunately I beleive that seal products are banned from being imported to the U.S....Sandy.

No Rooty..the tabs in the picture were made from Hood seal pelt which I think is thicker than the more common seal pelt which that quiver was made from,I like to feel the string through the tab.I have made harp skin tabs and backed them with leather cut to the same pattern and joined with a couple of stitches. I like to use the harp pelt on my bow shelves and sides.

Thanks Codjigger my stuff is real thin. Getting another pelt soon as several of my bows have it on as well.

Here are some Tabs made by me in the last couple years. The ones at the top are the latest, guess you can see am now a Black Widow fan. Thanks, Roy

Liked the AAE tabs just worried about scratching the wood bows with the metal handpiece. Bought a thick piece of leather to take the place of the handpiece and made customized tabs. Roy

To me, this tab is now incredible. The leather face was great and I liked it but not love it. So now it is Cordura adhered to car tire inner tube.It is super slick, flexible and water proof. My release is now consistently next to perfect. Just wanted to share.I am totally excited with this tab.

Caughtand hobble- seems you like the same type of tab as I do. Nice to spend a couple hours on a tab, rather than spending a lot of cash. Thanks, Roy
