I was in the tree at 12:45. At 5:00 PM this buck came walking out. He past by me at 10 yards when I shot him. He died in sight of my tree. I shot him with my Bear Hunter recurve, Gold Tip 3555, LaFond Lightnings broadheads

I don't think I'll use them again. They preformed okay but like Bear Greenies w/Bleeders they came apart on withdrawal. I found the blades in the deer and that could be a potential hazard. I'll put the rest up as Collector Items.

I hear that, I like to dabble with vintage equipment, but old heads like that with multiple blades look like an accident waiting to happen when gutting or butchering. One of my mentors told me the first thing after you find that deer, if you haven't found that head, it's probably still in there.

Congrats on a great buck. Nice shot as well. I'd never seen or heard of a LaFonds Lightning Broadhead until just now. Do you or anyone else have any history on this broadhead? I can see they were made in Michigan. When and how long were they in business? I like hearing about the "old stuff".
