I recently talked with Craig Ekin and was surprised to learn that he was ok with these modifications in the design of the "classic" bow structure ( more deflex in the limbs, adding wedges etc). How many of you have done this with him??
How many of you who own and shoot Howard Hill bows use Fastflite instead of Dacron? have your bows customized? Increase setback on limbs?, have follow the string limbs instead of classic straight?

Well I use Rick Barbee's FF strings on my two Not the Rino but the one's he sold before going to the Rino. Other than that nothing.

I use regular FF 2 of my Hills. I have one of each limb style. #62@26 Big Five-straight limb- #53@26 1973 Shultz built Tembo Backset limbs and #40@26 Wesley Special string follow. The 2 made by Craig have wedges only. The Shultz built Tembo has plain limb tips and I only use B-50 on it.

Used my own padded 450+ on my Cheetah (no tip overlays, just tip wedges). Shot fantastic and held up just fine (as I expected)!

Padded 450? Is that a fast flite string that is padded? or another material?

All of my Ekin built Hills have wedges. I was never a fan of altering the unstrung profile myself. I like the way they handle and shoot with the "classic" profile.

Craig is quite flexible with modifications to the basic offerings. I recently had a Wesley Special made with the handle fadeouts placed on top of the glass on the belly. Turned out very nice. I have not tried FF on any of my Hills, preferring the traditional feel.

Why screw with something that was perfected decades ago? If you don't want a true Hill design then buy one of those morphadited cross breed, deflex reflex, whatever they're called, bows!

I ordered one from Craig that is a string follow Tembo, with a dished grip. I also shoot Rick Barbee's older "ultraCam"? string with no problems. I like the bow very much.

Yep, very funny, Traxx. Well, tradmt, a compound will out perform most any and all traditional bows too, but for some it isn't all about maximizing performance but other factors that please and fulfill what it is we are after.

I believe Craig has three standard forms, one with some setback, one straight and one string follow. He's willing to increase the amount of setback or string follow if you want it, but not necessary IMO.
As far as I know, he's always put wedges in the limb tips. He'll also add riser and limb tip overlays if you want them.
I believe he still ships his bows with dacron strings unless you want a fast flite material. I have always shot a low stretch string on my Hills. Reduces hand shock and adds more zip to the arrow.
