What type of quiver do you prefer for hunting? I need one, but I don't like a quiver on my bow. Using my compound I have one that attaches and I take if off while I hunt. I'm just getting into traditional hunting and really have no idea if I'll like a hip, back, or some other type.

What do you use and why do you like it better than the alternative?

I have at least 35 different quivers of various styles. I've been using my favorite back quiver this season when I'm still-hunting and this side quiver when I have to carry a treestand on my back, or a pack. It clips over your belt and is easy on and off. Very handy.

I have different ones and use them all by times. I like a back quiver with my longbows. No other reason than I just like it. I use a bow quiver sometimes on my recurve and also have an Asbell type that I made.

I have fleece hoods in ASAT or Advantage that slip over the fletching.

GFA home made style or Kanati longbow quiver,haven't found a back quiver that I like yet. Jeff F

My GFA style was made from an old game tracker cut and lengthen and put a over the head shoulder strap on it and go from side to back.

Been using this one for about 5 years now. Just a GN bow quiver that I modified and mounted on a possibles bag that I made from an old leather back quiver.

Thunderhorn makes a nice hip quiver . . .

The great northern strap on is my fav. Can be taken off in seconds or can leave it on.

Plus it fits almost every bow you will ever have. So very versatile

I'm with George. I like a Howard Hill back quiver. I don't like anything flopping around on my hip or on my side. I put a Great Northern bow quiver on one of my longbows this year to try it, and it is ok, but I really don't like it. It does not bother my shooting but it throws the bow out of balance when carrying. And it doesn't feel as good when across my lap when sitting in a stand. Skeet

I like my GN side quiver. I've had it for years. Have had numerous bow quivers and just have never liked them. Also have an otter hide side quiver that I made for when I carry my Selfbow.

I use a Howard Hill back quiver for small game and a side stalker quiver for deer. The back quiver has my arrows sticking up and just to the side of my right shoulder and moving with each step. In my mind it seems to mimic the flagging that whitetails do when they bound away with their tails up. The side stalker can be tucked behind me if I am still hunting and an arrow can be drawn without a lot of high arm movement.

The Mantis quiver comes as a 4 or 6 arrow quiver.

I have an Art Vincent side quiver that is similar to that Mantis. Love it. I also have a Nate Steen Hill style back quiver. Nate knows his stuff.

Kanati. Hands down. I don't mind hip, back or shoulder quiver but I do when I'm belly crawling in the final yards of my stalk. They just don't cooperate in the stalk.

I like to use a Lakota-style side quiver. This style works great and holds the arrows better than the ones shown on here. Another great quiver to use, but takes some practice to get the full potential out of it, is a CatQuiver.

If I'm not using a bow quiver, I use a sling quiver very similar to the one Ron LaClair has above. I just bolted the hood and arrow grippers off a bow quiver to a 1/2" x 1" x 18" piece of wood and fastened a nylon webbing strap to either bolt. I've used one of these off and on for over 10 years, and they always work great. slide right through brush under your arm too.

I like plains style quivers. They just work for me. Its basically a side quiver. Keeps arrows quiet, easy to maneuver, easy to get an arrow out with very little movement, easy to make, can build them to hold as many or as few arrows as you want. Very versatile and they look good. Austin

I like a small side mount 3-4 arrow quiver on my bow with broadheads and then a side quiver for more ammo with blunts and such.

I don't know but I think Highnoonleathers makes the best most versatile side quiver out there.

I have been using a single arrow quiver on bow and a cat quiver for all the back ups and my gear. Works good.

I hunt only from the trees. Long ago got tired of snagging arrows in the brush, as I walked in to my stand in the dark. My drain grade PVC protects my arrows and makes transporting them easy.

ost of my hunting is done with a Safari Tuff 'Duiker Deluxe.' It's a little slimmer than the Arrowmaster, but still holds plenty of arrows for a day of hunting. The 'Deluxe' version also inclused the storm cover and an external pocket which is pretty handy.

I love the look of those Highnoon Quivers. I don't need one, but there is a guy on eBay that makes them.

Last I talked to the real Highnoon Leathers guy he wasn't making them. But on eBay, the maker credits it as a "Highnoon Hunter Style Quiver" and they are $100 shipped. He's using leather straps though instead of the woven sash.

Well, I like a quiver that goes on or off in a jiffy..holds a dozen arrows..is quiet..lets me wear a backpack or meat pack if I need to..and is durable.. I've used back quivers..bow quivers...:(...:(and they judst didn't work well for me..

So over 20 years ago I designed and made my own.. Blacksmiths side( for those who know leather) Stainless steel clamp that quickly goes on ot off the belt..

Hangs well from the belt arrows front or rearward..For hunting I prefer the nocks rearward..Can draw an arrow from the quiver and conceal the motion with your body..

Been on many a hunt and roving venture over 20 years..

After 60+ years of shooting arrows all over God's creation, in my opinion no one can answer this question for another person. You just have to try them all. I use a back quiver mainly and always have but I do favor the Cat hunting in the rain here in the NW. I also have my version of the side stalker for target shooting. It's taken quite a few years of trial and error to arrive at these three, but I no longer have the desire for a new quiver, although, I've always admired that Dogware!

I've also been using a Kanati "Slim Solo" in tandem with a side quiver. I likes it.

While I enjoy my homemade Hill sty le back quiver very much my hunting has been with my Dawgware for the past few years.

I used to do the same thing with my compound. Took the quiver off. Trad bows are a lot lighter... Now I prefer a quiver on the bow for the added weight.

I'm a little late to the party, but I prefer rover style side quivers. I made myself a back quiver when my wife got into archery and took my side quiver, but lately I've been stealing her side quiver whenever I go shooting without her. So I'll think I'll be making myself another one if I ever get some time between orders to work on something for myself... Like someone else mentioned, they are mobile, easily maneuvered in tight brush, swings around to your back to get out of your way, around front for easy arrow extraction, easy on and off. You can put a bottle of water in it... I like a pouch attached to mine to easily carry a stringer, or string wax, a snack, etc.

I agree with Bowfitz, I have and Alpha quiver by LW'er Riverwolf, so far, it's the best quiver I've ever used.

I use a bow quiver in combo with a back quiver. My small game and stunners go in the back. Broad heads in the bow quiver. I couldn't afford a half cow hide so I made mine from leather remnants and duck canvas. Works well if the stitching is a little crude but it's my first attempt.
