Well, I tried calling the toll-free number that I found for Bighorn and got a “that number has been disconnected” message, so I will put it to the members here assembled…

I’ve got a #55 @ 28” BigHorn TD recurve, made in the year 2000; it’s a 17” riser, in case that should matter, and 62” overall. Bomb-proof tips.

I broke the string, and my wife threw it out before I had a chance to measure the length or do anything else to record the specifications…

So…. does anybody happen to know the specs of the factory-issued string for this bow? Or, failing that, how about a favorite string that’s working well for you? I’ve been known to switch back and forth, but I’ve been shooting a tab lately, and it seems to be working for me…

58" 15 strand. I have the exact same bow only 70 at 29. I use 58" 18 Flemish.

58" is where I would start also. I'm glad you still have that bow, it was sweet!

So THAT's where you ran off to! LOL... Good to hear from you, brother!

Sad to say I'm not getting much use out of it... Which doubtless explains why the string failed on me right below the nocking point… :p

Shot it Saturday at the old club and teed off a coupla shots from 50, aiming at the scrap of white there. First shot high, next one wide.

Guess I'd better go back to shooting in the back yard...

You always shoot better in the backyard, at least I do.

For me, I think it has a lot more to do with only being able to get 40' from the target.. LOL... Had an unusual abundance of high and low 5s as I shot through the 3D course..

So back to the bowstring.... To get it back to what I had before.. Flemish twist, right? And how many strands of what material? I was eyeballing some "whisper quiet" strings on 3R or KK, and wondering if those would be a good choice. I really don't know much about FF or the others and what the various desirable qualities and/or trade-offs may be...

Almost a whole new thread... Maybe it should be...

I sent AS's contact info, he makes a great string at a fair price.
