Got a hybrid longbow shooting 26 3/4 " draw it's 53@28 I have half dz easton axis fmj 400 spine cut to 28" that i had for my compound they shoot bare shaft way knock right almost sideways ....I am curious is I was to put brass inserts and a order some heavy heads let's say 200 gr could they work ? The heaviest head I have are the old bear heads ....or would I be better off to trade them for some 500 shafts

Get some 500. If they were longer than 28" you would have more of a chance. You're right around 50# with your draw...mebbe a bit under that. Even with 500 you will need a bit longer than 28" with a heavy insert and the Bear head.If you are using a low stretch string and close to center, I would say a 29" with a total of about 175/200 up front. May be well even to start them at 30" and work back.

Jamo, Listen to George. I have a setup with .390 close to .400, and I shoot 50 at 29. It takes 360 grains up front to make that arrow shoot. With a 28 inch arrow I couldn't even guess.

Just as George said, use FMJ 500s. My setup is very similar to yours....Bob Lee -55#@28" and I draw 26 1/2" and use the 500s. My arrows are cut to 28 1/16, use the std H.I.T. insert, the old Bear greenies/bleeder blades with broadhead adapters, 3x5 parabolic fletching, and 7" One Stringer wraps with Double Dogs. My RER-XR, 52#@28" I use the same arrow/setup, but cut them at 29".

In general carbon shafts do not respond particularly well to adding weight to soften the dynamic spine...you will be happy sticking with the FMJ...just drop down to the 500 spine as George suggests...the FMJ is my primary hunting arrow

Trimming that 2016 will make it incredibly stiff for your setup. Of course you could leave it long but, WHY? At your specs, your way under a 2016 cut to 27 3/4 to 28 inches. A 1916 would be just right at 28 inches, 125 grain tip outta your bow, and will be between 9 to 10 gpp. God Bless

Well I did some trading and have some 2213 with bear razor heads on them coming and some 500 spine carbon so I will try them and see where it gets me if everything fails I will just have to find a shop that knows what they are doing to cut me down and tune me up with arrows ...hard to find here in Columbus ohio they are all compound shops and carry very little to no tradition equipment or knowledge

Lots of times an arrow appears to flying like a dart until you bareshaft it...you want them to fly like a dart with no fletch...still it makes sense that a 2016 would be the right arrow for that bow since it spines very close to .500...no harm at all in shooting an arrow that is quite a bit longer than your draw length, problems only arise when arrows get cut too short...an inch longer than draw length is simply a custom and not a rule...if you check out all of those compound shops you could very well find someone there who is a traditional shooter...there are lots of us that shoot both
