This is a small knife that I made from L-6 steel. The handle is Buffalo horn and the bolster is Elk antler.

Boyd.. Did you start with a blank from the L-6 steel?..
An 8" overall knife is not a 'small knife'.. Very nice work on blade, grinding..edge and handle-bolster etc..
I have a Shrew neck knife Ron L. sent me years ago that's a dandy..It's small..about 5" overall..Jim

Jim, It's actually cut from an old mill saw blade that my brother gave to me. He gave me five old saw blades of varying condition. I cut this blank out of one with quite a bit of rust pitting and left some of the pitting in the blade for character. It is high in nickel and polishes up very easily. I guess "Small" is a relative term for me. It's smaller than most of the knives that I make.

Boyd, There's often some great durable steel in the old saw blades...You did a good job on that one!.. I use and like larger knives also..Jim

I like larger knives too. This is one that I made for my brother in law using O-1 barstock. The Handle is jigged Buffalo Horn.

Here's a picture of the back of the knife. You can see the red line spacers between the blade and horn handle. Also, you can see where I "Dovetailed" the bolster and handle together.
