Congrats but I guess poked a hole is respectfull right? I would hope an animal would qualify for a little more respect than being reduced to that thought. I know we all have had discussions of things like this over the years. Not trying to bust on ya just bring this up. That was alittle more than a hole it was a good clean qiuck shot to be comended on too.LOL

Say and do what you want if you think its really ok.LOL

My thoughts were along the same lines as Ryman Cat's, but congratulations on a fine shot and some good venison.

From: GF
Date: 20-Oct-14

I’m down with Ryman and David on the headline. Awful bloody for a “trophy” shot, but in terms of what can be learned….

Howard - Is that the entry or exit wound? And what did you hit internally? Looks like maybe the shot was quartering-to just a touch?

What is the big deal about saying "poked a hole"?In my opinion this view of "respect the animal" is way overblown. It is only an animal.Human beings are made in God's image and have been given dominion by God over the animals.Give Landshark a break. He is proud of his kill(or is it more respectful to say harvest?)and was just sharing his joy with others. And all some can do is give him a hard time about the title of the thread.

Landshark and JKM,

Congrats on the does. They will make fine eating. You boys put the arrow where it needed to go. Good job! Now, enjoy your venison!

Congrats on some fine meat.. Ray, please do not give your weak translation of the book to fit your opinion.. Life is life...It deserves respect.... period..

Ouch... Runner just poked a hole in your theory..

From: RayJ
Date: 21-Oct-14

Stan and Runner,we obviously have different worldviews and that being so,it's doubtful that we could ever agree on much.I hold to a Biblical worldview and put everything I think and do under the authority of the Scriptures.Yes,in Genesis 1:26,God gives man dominion over the earth and all the animals. Now,I believe that the Bible is God's Word and is absolute truth. It is to be believed and obeyed. This is a traditional archery forum and I will apply what I just said to archery. We are to hunt ethically, obey the game laws, and do all we do,even hunt, for the glory of God.

In defense of Howard and his thread title,I realize that not everyone will like the title to the thread but it's not that big of a deal.Especially, for someone to start calling names. How childish.I've known Howard for alot of years and he is a very good and ethical hunter. He has killed more deer than most of us ever will with a longbow and recurve. He doesn't choke when the shot is on the line and he rarely loses deer.Congrats again Howard on a great shot and kill.

From: Stan
Date: 21-Oct-14

All good with me.. Do you give thanks for your meals? Why? Not expecting anyone to cry and carry on over killing game. Maybe just give thanks, and a slight pause for a life for a life kinda thing? I rekon I am more on the spiritual plane than a bible based faith, I have hunted my entire life, I understand it all.. I look at all life as important, not judging anyone, that feels different, your bible covered burnt offerings? Sacrifice for sin? Think a bit about the importance of that? Sorry for going off subject ... congrats again for some fine eating..

From: Hunt OH

I would be proud to have meat on the table. At least the title din't say " I smoked a doe"
