A couple weeks ago I was drawn to this checked finish, kinda ugly bow. I stripped it down and gave it a new finish, not so ugly any more. Shoots just fine and no lose of pounds. Jeff F

The original pound mark looked a little odd but I put it back that way except in white.

Well done. Looks great. I just finished a Proline Condor that had that alligator checking on the old finish.

Did a great job on the old York recurve.. They made a bunch of bows years ago..and they all shot good.. Because of their rather plain appearance, some considered them entry level bows..but the 'chrome don't get ya home'..:)
The wood in the riser isn't walnut.. Maybe curly maple stained?..The lams are rock maple..Jim

I don't think stained, almost had a smell of walnut sort of. I sanded riser hard, but maybe I haven't seen that much old wood. Oh no. Jeff

Thanks for the comments, not many other people can appreciate the work it takes except for this crowd. When I look at an old bow I try to see it refinished hard to see sometimes, but now and then I can. Some have to much character to redo. Thanx for all input on this old bow. Jeff F
