Been getting some knapping done this week and just wanted to share a few I did this afternoon. All knapped with antler tools from spalls of rock. Doin' it the old fashioned way. They are leaky sharp!

Well, to reiterate what everyone else has said... ...WOW, those are fantastic!
Why don't you advise that they be any larger than that? I would think that just a little larger would put you at 125gr. which is a common weight for field tips. And, what about guys who are using heavier tips in the 200gr. range? What would be the disadvantage of making a 200gr. stone point? Too fragile at those dimensions?

I've been getting hunting points from twistedlimbs for several years, now and I can guarantee those points are great, just killed a doe on the 29 th of September, using one of his points, shot her at 10yds, double lunged her, she ran 80 yds and piled up.
His points are just as sharp as any steel blade broadheads. He's got a great guarantee on his broadheads.
I use to be skeptic! Until I used a broadhead made of obsidian back in 2009 by a friend of mine, killed a 368 # black bear, he only went about 80 yds. Not only was I'm impressed, but also the guide was impressed. First year that Canadian hunting regulations took the (steel)out of the regulations of broadheads, have to be at least two sharp cutting edges, 1 inch by 3/4 as I remember.
If you can kill deer with steel two blades, you will have no trouble killing with stone points, well at least twistedlimbs, I'm sure there are other fine knappers, but danged he is a Master of what he does. It's MHO

thanks larry, I appreciate it!
Wandering Archer- Stone isn't as dense as steel and to get the 125+ grains, it takes a pretty big point. From my experience, those big points just have too much surface area to really penetrate well. I get consistent pass through shots by using smaller 70-90 grain points.

Wandering Archer, that's what I thought also, until twistedlimb' s, explained to me about the steel and stone point, and he's right. I told him to make me what ever he thought would work, An old saying years ago, "Never, Ever Guide the Guide!" holds true. Because when someone is a Master at what they do, it's best to take what they say as the truth.

This particular points are currently in the mail to another fellow, but here is a picture of a different one mounted up, and here is also a video I did a while back on how to mount them.
Catskills, my arrows are typically 500-580 grains. I've used lighter and heavier ones however, but 520-580 seems to be my sweet spot. But in an effort to keep things as primitive as possible, I don't actually weigh the arrows until they are finished and I've picked my favorites by the way they fly.

Twistedlimbs,
That is beautiful work!
What kind of wood is that last bow ?
Are some of those recurve-shaped bows selfbows ? I.e. unlaminated ? If so, how do you achieve that, with steam-bending ?
Thanks for sharing.

Received the stone point replacement from Ryan on Saturday morning. Ryan has the best guarantee I know of, kill a deer (or any big game animal) with a stone point of his and send him a photo of your kill, and Ryan will replace it.
I returned "All Cracked Up" the traveling 1961 Bear, Polar recurve to uphuntn, along with the Cedar arrow and stone point I used to kill the whitetail doe, with. As a keepsake for uphuntn, for using "All Cracked Up". Thanks to uphuntn, twistedlimbs, and Paul, the arrowsmith that makes cedar "Firefly" arrows, for Ron LaClair.

Rad. So cool to see, but I'd really like to see it all from start to finish: bow, arrows, points! Twistedlimbs, you ever think about doing classes? I'm sure there are plenty of people, even just on this forum, who would like to learn how to do this. One more question, do you hunt in buckskins and moccasins? Seems kinda silly to wear modern synthetic camo when working with such handmade beauty! Thanks for sharing!
