First pic was looking north. This is looking south. Wind was NE blowing my sent to the corner of the field. Deer came from left. shot him just as he was turning from the corn to come up the trail at 17 yrds. should have shot a hair earlier or waited. I was worried if I waited the angle would be too steep under me where the trail came. turned out ok as I found him the next day but wish I would have made a cleaner kill on him. Felt bad I put him through a last long night.

northern Wisconsin last year during the rut. Had an 8 pointer and 10 pointer come by this spot but I was in a tree 30 yrds south those days. This day I was ready and they didn't show.

I actually had the 10 pointer at about 15 yrds from the other stand a few days earlier. I had to bend low and find a window through some oak limbs as he was behind the stand. I drew on him as he steeped into the opening but saw a few small saplings in the sight picture and let down.

This is the view to the East of my most productive stand. Behind me (to my left when sitting) is a finger of timber with a big trail coming out. The grass is a ditch that runs about 300 yards out into crop fields, so I'm actually surrounded by crop fields. There is a good sized creek and bottom ground to the N/NW...

Makeshift ground blind when I spent 2 hours in yesterday. I could have killed my limit of squirrels. Had a big lone doe come in behind me at 10 yards and busted me almost immediately. Then, a nice 6pt. came into the open lot, to the right of the notch, but stayed out of range. Another deer, assume an older wiser buck, was crunching around in the woods behind him. He knew better than to come out. Most of the deer come from the far edge of the field between the pines and the aspen in the pic. (in the notch). Have a great rest of the season everyone. Mine takes a two week hiatus in favor of gun elk in WA. Later...
