I was able to get it done this weekend. Twistedlimbs Osage bow, cane arrow and FL agatized coral point. I was up in a tree that was dropping acorns and she came in feeding. She didn't turn broadside until she was about 3 steps away. In hindsight, I probably shouldn't have shot with her so close, forcing me to shoot a severe angle down into her. Trying to squeeze the arrow down through both lungs is tough on such a small window. Shot was about an inch or so higher than I had planned, and I dropped her on the spot with a spine shot. Another quick stone point to the heart and I sealed the deal on my first meat of the season. Although it ended in success, I think I will exercise caution and try to wait for a little better angle. Hard to not to shoot at 3-4 yards tho! - Ryan

Congratulations! That will undoubtedly be some fine eating. I have killed four bucks with spine hits and I have to agree with you, its not the best.

I live a little north of you and close to the Santa Fe River. Our property has what we have been told is fossilized coral. Is this the same as or similar to agatized coral?

Congrats Ryan! Frank

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

Penny, it's the same type of coral that you have. fossilized/agatized. same stuff. Organic material replaced with fine silicates over a million or so years

Ryan, My first primitive kill was the same shot as your except I missed the spine an got one lung. Same results with a nice BBuck. Agitized Coral is my favorite hunting point, super sharp and extremly durable and to top it off some of it is just beautiful to look at. Good job and I know the feeling on the straight down shots.
