I want to get a hill bow just not sure what model. Any suggestions?

I like in my Hill bows a bamboo core or bamboo&yew like in the Halbreed.I'm kinda of partial, maybe because I have a Halfbreed. There isn't a big difference in the models other then woods, personal choice for most shooters.I feel the bamboo core is the smoothest draw and maybe a slight advantage as to speed.I have had quite a few Hill's and still have a couple.Did you look at the website,Craig explains the differences in wood choices.Email Craig at HHA,he answered any question I had about choices. What length are you planning on getting. My favorite length for my 27" draw is a 66" and 68",I have had a couple of 70" Hill's.

I plan on 66"55@28. I will call him. I figured a little homework was a good idea before calling. I have a custom I bought used. Its 66" 64@28 with bamboo cores and zebra under clear glass. Shoots nice just a little stout. Its marked 60 but the scale never lies.

They do sometimes seem to be a touch on the heavy side.I had a 65# Cheetah and it weighed on my spring scale 69#.My 60# Halfbreed weighed 62#.I always give my spring scale + or - 2#.Zebra looks nice under clear glass.I love the look of yew under clear glass on my Hafbreed.

I like the Big Five. I have shot two others but it was years back, and I couldn't tell you what models they were. I kinda talked a friend of mine into buying an older B5, and after he bought it, and I shot it for a few hours, I wish I had bought it. Nice smooth draw, decent speed, very forgiving. I believe the bamboo limbs play a part in those attributes.

As far as Hill Archery bows go, the best shooting one I have ever had is my Wesley Special. It is 69" 55@28,clear glass, African Blackwood riser and tips, I like it a lot. Tom

It is my Red Hawk, Bamboo core backset with yew on the back and juniper on the belly, cocobolo riser and limb tips with moose hide straight grip, 45@28.

Like Tom I also have a 69" 55@28 Wesley Special that Bob Wesley ordered for me. It is a great shooter. The last deer I shot with it I was leaning back against the tree and holding the bow at about a 60 degree reverse cant. The arrow went where it was supposed to and the deer ran about 40 yards before piling up. Yeah I like that bow.

I have two, the Wesley Special and the Half-Breed both 50#@27" my D L I believe the Wesley to be a tad more accurate but then it's my "go-to" LB so I use it more. The Half-Breed is darn close to it in accuracy but as I said my "go-to bow is the Wesley. I don't believe you can go wrong with any Howard Hill Archery bow unless, of course, you over bow yourself.

Tough call bit I would have to go with the Green Dragon made by Howard himself. At around 60 years old, it 'a still a superb shooter.

OK, here is my current vintage favorite. Called"Simba". It's 5 lams of carmelized bamboo with a myrtle riser. Basically, it's a Wesley Soecial that I specified the wood, and had the fade outs put on top of the limb belly,.

Tate: I've shot Howard Hill bows for over 30 years. I don't believe you will notice any difference between the different models, I would suggest a bamboo core, other than that buy which ever one catches your eye. Bob

Long enough for your draw, not too much a strain to Full Draw.

My favorite is my 70" Wesley. That bow is just one of them bows. You know the one, it hits dead nuts when ever you point it at something, etc, etc. All of my Hills, are bamboo cored, 70 inch bows. Very, very, smooth draw force curve. Just cannot say enough of this Wesley.
