A friend passed away recently and his wife is wanting to sell one of his recurves. Based on some limited research, it appears to be a 1962 Kodiak Special, 66 inches, 34 pounds. I would rate this bow as excellent condition with no twist, cracks, or fading. It has one small scratch on the side of the bow. I am considering purchasing the bow and want to give her fair value. What would be a fair price to pay for this bow?

In the condition you've described, I'm thinking "much" more than $200.00. Only problem is, I don't know how much more. :^) I'm sure some guys in the know will be along to help.

I wouldn't 't pay 200.00 for one. That's getting into current Super Kodiak prices! The bow market is in decline ...

I think they are one of the best shooters Bear ever made, however, the length and weight of that bow would turn me off a bit. If it were the 63" version in a weight between 40 and 50, then I would be a bit more excited.
SB is correct...I've picked them up in the past year with prices between $75 and $150, but rest assured you will like how they shoot. The rosewood is nice, but the sea foam colored glass is not my favorite.

I paid 130 for mine back when prices were quite a bit higher...200 would be very generous in todays market for one under 40 pounds and the common 66 inch length

I recently came into position of a 1962 Kodiak Special 69 inches long, 43# @28". Have been shooting for the last couple of hours. Brace height about 7 5/8 from deepest part of grip. Seems to be shooting quite well for me. Shooting 29" 600 carbon arrows with 175 gr pts. Denny Sturgis Sr

According to recent prices on the auction site a 1962 K.S are selling in the $200 plus range. One in excellent shape should sell in the $250 plus range.
