Look for some honest feedback from Black Widows Owners who shoot and hunt with BW Model's KB and/or the PA. I want to order a one piece BW recurve as my first widow and I'm torn between getting a KB 56" OR a PA 58" for hunting deer from tree stand and ground. I have a 28 inch draw and will shooting between 45-50 pounds. Your thoughts, Comments and photos of your BW Bows are welcome. Thanks, Walt

I shoot their PTF one piece recurve, had the PA , but like the lighter PTF better, they shoot about the same though

I have the 56" for my 26" draw so the 58" should be about right for you

never shot the KB

I also use the PL long bow quite a bit (sorta a longbow guy)

They have a try before you buy program

I haven't shot either model you mention, but have owned a 56" and 58" PCH. I no longer have the 58" and the 56" has become my favorite bow I have ever owned. My draw is 28.5" and hunt from the trees and ground, great bow for whatever I need it for. So personally, I would get the shorter bow.

With a 26" draw a 56" PSA works best for me. It is my first choice for a hunting bow.

Try there loaner/buy program, also there 45#er will probably hit as hard as other 50er's on the market, do not overbow yourself

I have a TF and an SA both 56" both 50#. Bought the SA (takedown) for packing and travel. The TF is more balanced and agile, just a dream to shoot. I also own a 50# PLX which is 64" it as equal to the TF in agility and comfort. The 56 inch recurves and 64" longbow shoot 28" GT3555s hard and fast with my 26" draw. I would not recommend any shorter than 64" for a PL longbow. All are very nice bows. If I sold one it would be the SA.

i have had 2 PA's still have one, its a 56lb 60" PAX in zirocote/ myrtle burl but honestly a standard PAII or III will shoot just as good as a PAV or PAX. i have shot PSA's alot and think they are about the perfect hunting bow. The PA is a little diffrent, its alot lighter in mass weight and is more critical in brace heigth to make it quiet. I sold my first PA because i just could never get it as quiet as i like, My PSA's are a slight thump quiet. But even with a SBD skinny string, 10 gpp or more and a little higher brace heigth, its not loud by any means, but more so than My PSA, i have found a strap on quiver helps some as well. But that is the only negitave i have with a PA, its a awesome bow with some very nice lines, (alot cleaner looking than a takedown) and shoots like a widow !! i cant do photobucket at work but there is a pic in the widow gallery thread good luck on your new bow.. they are awesome

I have a psa 56" 48.6 pound at 28" Can hardly hear it shoot. One piece would be lighter, but in my experience will be louder.

Thank You, to everyone who provided the honest and candid feeback; it is greatly appreciated! Walt

Walt, I can't stress enough taking advantage of their "Test Drive." This way you can try each one. Don't be in a hurry to choose, either.

Personally I'd choose the PA. I think the sight window is too small on the KB. Years ago I had an MA Diamond Anniversary one piece. That bow shot great. I used to hit leaves on the ground from my treestand out to 20 yards. Frank

I've had 3 TF's, all 58", and I currently shoot a 58" KB and a 58" SR T/D. All are handy, I specifically got the KB with the Asbell grip for shooting with a high wrist and in that regard it's great. However, of all my Widows the KB is the loudest. They all shoot well. And I would second Selden Slider in saying to give whatever you are interested in a test drive. Call and talk to Roger, they are all very helpful.

Thanks Selden Slider and BRLMKR, much appreciated!! All the advice has been great!

I purchased a tf that's been getting passed around a while and absolutely love it! I was and still am a bob lee fan but I shoot my tf best. Im about 5'10" with a draw about 28". My tf is 58" & 52@28. If I was to order a new one, I wouldn't want it  any shorter.

If draw 28 would think the 58 or 60 " would be a better choice Discuss with Roger at black widow

mine are 56" but I only draw 26"

I had a KB 58" that was a great shooter. I draw 28. Sold it because I did not like the high wrist grip as well as my 58" PSA with a low grip.

one thing i should have said.. i have fairly large hands and love the asbel grip, ive gotten it on the last 3 widows i have ordered, i recommend it and if ya dont like it, they can take it down to a standard grip but not vice versa.... i draw a little over 27" and really like 60" bows... i agree on the test drive, they will probably have something pretty close for ya to try, and dont be afraid of trying diffrent models... im lucky in that i only live 2 1/2 hours from NIXA

....the Cadillac....you won't be disappointed (well, you shouldnt' be....) It amazes me that a lot of bow builders have never evolved to the rear mount limbs of the Black Widow design. I think that feature alone, has more to do with their popularity and shooter friendliness than any other factor....... sorry Widow Whiners..... sometimes the truth hurts. p.s. I love all types of bows.

From: KyPhil
Date: 19-Sep-14

I haven't had either of those models but have owned a PTFV. I like a longer bow so 62" ideal for me but will shoot a 60". They are great bows and I don't think you can find an all around better bow than a Widow. Personally I think the PA is the best looking bow they offer but the MA is my favorite.

From: hunterbob

Don't forget about there one piece longbow. They are sweeeeeeet.

From: fdp
Date: 19-Sep-14

"also there 45#er will probably hit as hard as other 50er's on the market" no basis at all for that statement.

"It amazes me that a lot of bow builders have never evolved to the rear mount limbs of the Black Widow design"

Both of these statements are incorrect as the Widow while a great bow doesn't shoot any faster or hit any harder than LOTS of other bows.

In addition, the riser forward design isn't unique to nor was it developed by the Wilson brothers of the original Black Widow.

Now, that being said, as was mentioned, one thing you will need to keep in mind is the size of the sight window and the physical weight of the bow. I personally wouldn't dream of ordering one without doing the test drive first.

Fdp, the guy asked for honest feedback from widow owners concerning a specific item, not the dribble garbage you posted.

Be nice if someone had read the question and answered it

Wallygator the ptf will have a bigger window. Personally with a 28 inch draw I would go with a 60-62 inch bow

From: Pointer

Walt..I'd say test one or two out from their test drive program. Only real way for you to know if its a good fit for you

My PL is the one on the right, a very nice shooting bow, the one I hunt with now

"dribble garbage you posted" interesting analogy

"Now, that being said, as was mentioned, one thing you will need to keep in mind is the size of the sight window and the physical weight of the bow. I personally wouldn't dream of ordering one without doing the test drive first" What the OP asked.
