Just like getting ready with your bow and arrow, the cabin porch...and cabin itself needs a break-in period. My buddy Scotty is testing it's viability for this season.

To those interested, these cabins are made and delivered to your site, and are very reasonable. This one, in 2011, sold for $4500.00 put on our site. The maker is Shawnee Structures in Bedford, Pa., and I'm sure other states/places have like manufacturers. We insulated the inside and put up cheap paneling to complete it, and did our own wiring. We have a generator to supply electricity when we need it.

What bows do you have there on the steps? Probably have several more jnside waiting their turn!

Ken, the one on the left as you look is a Carroll's Gentleman Jim takedown. The other is a Herter's Sitka that Scotty is using.

George, ask Scott what he's "testing." He looks too comfortable to me. Frank

I have always heard it said that the horsehoe over the entrance should always be hung like a----U-----to keep the good luck in.

Beautiful spot ! Enjoy.

Very nice George. It looks very relaxing! I can only imagine that the view your buddy is enjoying is very nice as well!

Everybody has a theory about hanging horseshoes, all of which are old tales and meaningless to me. The luck in that horseshoe is that we found it at all. It probably belonged to an old farmer or wagon master for and old logging team, back in the 1800's. It was found on the high bench on the mountain on which the cabin sits. Lots of history dating back into the 1600's here in Pa.

George, This is my cabin porch. Like yours, the cabin is wired but electricity is supplied by a generator from a power cable coming off the back side of the building. It makes it look like a big appliance. It is truly a peaceful place.

Porch sitting is my favorite thing, a good cigar and a glass of vino and I'm a happy man. Looks like you got a nice place to roost George.

George

After 3 years of having it set up, is there anything about the cabin you would change (size, arrangement, etc...) if doing it again?

From: Andy Man
Date: 17-Sep-14

Nice George

Hard to beat a little get a way like that

Enjoy

Mark, Not really. Small is better for us since it was less costly, and still plenty big enough to be a good cabin...12x24.

Looks ready to go. Weather is starting to feel more like hunting season.

Setting on the porch is like shooting a traditional bow. Can't just go up and sit the night before the hunt and expect the full enjoyment of it.

One must tune their porch sitting with the right book, chair, view, drink ect...ect...over many days and hours to get it right.

I wish you a wonderful season on that porch George. Remember to practice, practice, practice! :)

Sitting on a porch and watching whatever there is to watch is one of life's simple pleasures. A pair of binoculars and a fine beverage of choice makes it even better.

Looks like your friend Scotty has mastered the concept.
