Heard good things about these bows. I have one on the way that draws 47@28, I draw 29.5. Suggested arrows? How are these bowspn finger pinch? Smoothness? Do they stack? Anybody hunt wih one and if so what is your setup? Any info or opinions on the Wasp appreciated. Thanks,Craig .

You'll be happy with it. Browning made excellent shorter recurves. Finger pinch is a subjective thing but I'm not much bothered by it on a 56" bow. For arrows, you could try 2016s or 2018s with 125 to 145 gr tips. Or .500 spine carbons (35/55s) with 145-175 gr heads. Or 50-55 woodies with 125-145 gr heads. Good little hunting bows! And they made a lot, so prices are not bad.

The bow has a more upright limb profile (less deflex coming off the riser). This makes the bow fast, but shortens the draw to stack distance.

You will probably feel her tighten up at your length, BUT if you can erase the thought that that's a bad thing and are strong enough to pull into that stack, the result is a help at a consistent anchor and so MORE accuracy.

The finger pinch issue is also a fuzzy one. String diameter, type of glove or tab and three under vs. split finger, deep hook vs. a fingertip hold all have a bearing.

All I can report is that for me and my three under hold, I detect NO accuracy fall off until a bow gets down to 52", and then the difference is just a little.

I swapped my Wasp for the 56" Explorer-I simply because the Explorer is a high end Browning, but the Wasp is/was quicker.

Of the several Wasps I've restored, they most often have a cut past center sight window (also a speed and forgiveness positive).

BUT, the perfect arrow will depend on what the real poundage is at your draw and the actual arrow position from center with the strike plate thickness included, and the chosen string.

All in all, the excellent reports of the performance of the Wasp are true. Nice little shooter. Enjoy

Rick

I agree with everything posted above. I think you will very much like that bow.

Anyone that has shot my various Wasps that had 28" and less draw length, just simply loved them. Those above 28" found the level of stack to be egregious. It is an awesome bow, but simply wasn't designed to accomadate long draw lengths.

Two thumbs up on the Wasp. You should like it. I use to collect just Wasps for awhile back 10 yrs ago. I never heard anyone complain about finger pinch with longer draws. K-Mart use to sell a Wasp hunting set. Entry level hunting tack, but everything you would need to walk out the door and into the woods. Get your hunting license at the sporting goods counter too. Those were the days.

Have a Wasp, Safari, 4 Explorers and a Cobra. Wasp is a great bow as long as your draw is 28" or less...otherwise it can stack on you with a three finger split draw. My nephew is shooting the Wasp and it screams an arrow out there even at 45#...

Great bows....

I wanted to bring this back to the top since I think some confuse finger pinch with stack.

I just put my Wasp on the scale starting at 24". It's marked 45#@28, and I draw 27. I don't personally notice stack, but you can feel a bit of angle on the fingers. Anyway, here is what the scale says:

24"...37#.

25"...39#

26"...41#

27"...44#

28"...47#

29"...50#

This was done with a dacron string, so I will also try it with a FF later. I consider that pretty smooth for a 56" bow, considering the bow held the 3# per inch from 28 to 29. If the bow had went to 51 or 52 at 29, I would say it had begun to stack there. Hope that helps some here who may be considering the Wasp. My draw is 27 so I don't feel anything.

I have a Browning Wasp I deaw to just under 30". No real stack at that length, but it does get to my fingers if I shoot it much.

Hot little bow!
