Today's shot will be the ‘Elevated Vertical Obstruction’ shot at 14 yards. Add obstructions in-front of and behind the kill zone to leave only about a 6" shooting window to slip the arrow through. You can use something soft for the obstructions if you fear damaging an arrow. This simulates having to shoot between some obstructions when some of your quarry is obscured. If you don't have a tree stand handy, use what you can to get elevated... ladder, balcony, hillside, boulder, tailgate, etc. Shoot safe!

God Bless,

CD

Pretty much got what the window of opportunity gave me...makes it clear that taking such a shot at game is pretty irresponsible since one cannot really tell exactly what part of the animal they are looking at

Just finished picking up a quick inch of rain. Very dark for 9:00 and still a light mist. We will likely have off and on rain for the next two or three days with what is left of the gulf hurricane and a cold front colliding.

Shot from elevated deck to wood pile. Closer to 16 yards, but with the mist falling set it up pretty fast. 54# Mike Sullivan "Shadow" and a 2213 with a Zwickey Delta. About an inch low and an inch right of center, but likely a solid kill.

Thanks for the call CD. Great day to all.

Shot as called. Thanks CD. I did put my vertical obs. closer than 6 inches. I figured the zip loc deer would stop behind something about like that and I know I would try to thread the needle from 14 yds. I would have nailed the sapling. I should be in a tree right now but had to be up during the night so I am taking it easy this am. 67 degrees at 1030. Wind is out of the north and my stand is for a south wind. Probably better I am not there. You have guts Tuckerdog or you really don't like those boots that much. Great shooting guys, as usual.

It sure sounded Like I wacked the limb on the right side when I shot unless it just clanked off it. Was already thinking it is going to be hard to pull that arrow. Not exactly the result I wanted still shooting to the right. I just cannot get the extra inch rotation to throw my string pulling elbow and bow hand parallel with the arrow.

Staggered some cardboard trees between the target and my roost on the roof...... from the ground looking up they seemed plenty tall. But from up there, we had to shoot sitting down so as to get between both of them. Looked like this.....

.... and like this from the ground. We hit him, but higher than we would have liked.

Another gorgeous day here. Took the bike to work and on the way home almost just kept right on going.

Have a good one FIRST SHOOTERS, and thanks CD;

Bill

Great afternoon friends. Shot as called from a step ladder. The first shot just barley skimmed in there with the 53 lb...Toelke Lynx, arrow left side. Back up bow, Duncan Wareagle 57 lb....arrow right. Old school got me thinking about a back up bow. Thanks for the call, good evening to all.

Nice shooting everybody!

As directed, a little high and a little too far back for my liking. Overcast here in Florida, but a nice change from the usual hot conditions.

God Bless! Big John

Thanks, your shot should be in a textbook showing how it should be done! Yours is right in the boiler room.

Also, thanks for the shout out in yesterday's thread! It's good to see alot of folks have hung with it through the years!

Posting really late tonight but have been traveling most all day with my wife to the UNC Cancer Hospital for her periodic check-up. Her doctor described her situation as "doing great" so it was a GOOD day.

I could just barely see the target for my FS, so am OK with the results. Sorry for the lousy picture.

Cheers and blessings to all!

My shot ended up high. Came in to post my pic and the internet is down. So no pic for me. Must be a cell tower down too because my cell phone is barely operable as well... cant see any of the pics of y'alls shots... just txt. Oh well... Hopefully it will be better in the morning.

Got out after dinner with the 1953 59 lb. Bear Kodiak K-4 Static Recurve and tapered Douglas Fir arrow tipped with a 160 grain VPA 3-blade. Managed to slip it between the "trees" but was high and a little left of my spot (center of the lower target). Thanks for the call CD. Best to all!
