Answered an ad on the list today for a 68 Tamerlane 69" 34# appeared to be in good shape with a sight base attached to the front of the riser. Got there looked good but a couple of small dings not mentioned. Balked at the asking price of $200, the owner thru in a 68 Temujin in similar shape for $50. Caught off guard I payed and walked away. Okay deal?? Attached a couple of pics, would appreciate if someone recognizes the sight base, I would like to find the rest.
Thanks Tom

Are you serious? LOL. That is a deal. The Tamerlane was their top of the line bow then, the Temujin second in line. Caught off guard...you lucky dude. You did great.

I guess the first picture did not make it. Here you go. I really felt the sight holes were a deal breaker for a collector, which I am not.

You will be hard-pressed to find them totally without holes. Most folks shot freestyle back then on the field and target range, and many bows were not pre-drilled for them. The Reynolds sight base on the Tamerlane there is indicative of what was popular. I'm not sure when Bear began drilling for the Jeffery Omni sight, but it was shortly after Owen started there in 1967 to help design the target line.

They both look like factory site holes to me. Both of mine have inserts in those same spots.

Money spent well, is money well spent. All of us should run into such a deal.

Anybody know where I might start looking for a Reynolds sight. I probably won't use it, but would like it just for fun. These are not pristine, but show some use and some finish crazing but still look good. I shot the Tamerlane tonight, very nice.
Thanks Tom

I just sent a Reynolds sight bar to another LW'er that needed one. Every now and then the old Reynolds shows up on Ebay. Here is some information on the 68 line and who had a hand in the design.

Thanks for the information on the bear bows. I am quite happy with the pair. The Tamerlane is a joy to shoot, have not shot the other yet. Will kep looking for the sight.
Thanks Tom
