Arrowed my first MT whitetail. Was able to take antelope and mule in the past, but came up short on whitetails in the past. Arrowed him the last night of the hunt. Also helps when the outfitter is stickbow friendly.

Hunted with Bud Williams, Big Sky Outfitters on the Powder River. Hunted from treestand. Shot was around 25 yds with Morrison Cheyenne 58" longbow, carbon express piledriver, woodsman broadhead. I spotted him at about 75 yds. He look to his left and right and took off for the alfalfa field on a full run, like he was running the gauntlet. I tried to stop him, but was only able to slow him down a little. Thanks too all those running 3d targets at the shoots this summer, my shot was true. When I told Bud what happened he said "That's the benefit of shooting a longbow, those other guys could not have pull off that shot”. Referring to the compound shooters in camp.

Tremendous buck, nice story and a real great shot! Now the pressure is off and you can go back to PA and hunt for a few more weeks.

Awesome buck, man! Every time I see one like that I think "Man, if I ever get one that big, it'll be my first and last trip to the taxidermist"... at least for the species in question...

" It's nice to see actual bowhunting on here. "

I agree! But how much you wanna bet that we see a lot of "that was an unethical shot for you to take because I couldn't have made it" posts...

The longer I stay at this game, the less inclined I am to presume that MY limitations necessarily apply to anyone else...

Got him back from Razza's Taxidermy. Very happy with the job Dennis did. Heading back out to Bud's this fall, hope to bring home a mule deer.

Nice deer and nice work on the mount. What is the stuff hanging off the left antler? I didn't notice it in your field picture.

From: RMH
Date: 26-May-15

That's some velvet that was still hanging. If you look close in the field photo you can see it between his eye and ear. what I really like is the summer coat.

How far from Brodus were you?

From: RMH
Date: 27-May-15

About 5 mile east of broadus, off east powder river rd. It was a ranch on the little powder river, not far from where it runs into the powder.

From: RymanCat
Date: 27-May-15

That's why I asked hunted that area a number of years ago always done well over the years and have wanted to go back. The outfitter has elk on his ranch past few years now but with the draw it will be any ones guess these days.

Shot some really good goats and mules on each trip was 100% both animals. Talked about going back to turkey hunt there as well and fish the Big Horn again drift fish couple days done that 3 times.

Birds also were a hoot arrowed.
