I am new to archery, and new to this bow. I believe it to be in the neighborhood of a 1955 Bear Grizzly Static Recurve 62". I was hoping to find some help getting this shooting. I bought a 62 AMO string for it. Untwisted it's giving me a brace height of about 6 3/8 inches. Does this seem right?

bad angle here, but showing about a 6 3/8" brace height. I have not twisted the string.

Yeah the statics required less of a brace height.
Personally I'd find a good Flemish string and tune it to the bow.

Brace looks good good to me as it's coming off the brush nocks.
Is it a flemish twist or endless loop? It really doesn't matter which you use but the flemish twist is more adjustable.

I don't see any "brush nocks" just underlays . So it's a 55-56. 55 had decals...56 silkscreens. They work best with a 7-7 1/2" brace. Much less and they will really smack your arm!

Steve is right, I didn't look very well. Underlays it is. He would know about brace also on those bows. That said, I have shot many a longbow at 6.5" with no issues at all.

I also don't have an issue with 6 1/2" on a LONGBOW. But the straighter grip changes things!... at least for me! It's definitely too low for a static recurve!

B50 on that old bow if u want to keep it around. My 54 shoots great around 7 1/2.
