My Black Bear was shot on August 29, 2014 at 5pm EST at Squapan Mountain Outfitters on the "Marty Stand". Tree stand height was about 12'. He was hit at a slight quartering away shot on his right side just behind his shoulder at about 18 yards and only went 60 yards. Double lung shot. I used a 60" Great Northern Critter Getter Special Longbow 48#@28" using a homemade tapered Port Orford Cedar shaft and a 125 grain Black Diamond Zewicky broadhead. Total arrow weight was 480 grains. He weighed 257 lbs. The thing that kept running through my mind as I waited 15 minutes for a shot at him was, "for Gods'sake Jim don't screw this shot up or Tony's going to kill you". LOL. Big thanks to Tony and Lynn Boucher and their guides. The team at Squapan Mountain Outfitters is first class as well as all the other bowhunters that I shared camp with and hunted with.

Here's my 1st antelope. Taken at Spearhead Ranch in Wyoming with only about 3 hours left in the hunt. Shot was 15 yards and hit the heart. He went about 75 yards. Goats sure can cover ground fast. My set up is a Bob Lee Signature Recurve, 54# @ 28", 29.5" Goldtips w/50 gr. brass insert and Muzzy Phantom 125 gr. broadhead. My story is on the Antelope forum on the Bowsite under Stinkbait's Big Adventure.

A Bule Wildebeast taken with a $139.00 bow. Way to go Bob! Just goes to show, you don't need to spend big $$$$ to have an effective hunting bow!

Congrats to everyone that has connected this year.

My Brack got lost at the Atlanta airport on the way over. The Journey was my backup. But, it wasn't a consolation prize. When the Brack finally showed up 4 days later, I never bothered to put it together.

2014 doe. Shot her at 35 yards on the ground public land with my 48 pound Leon Stewart slammer taperd cedar with Zwickey 125 head. I normally don't like to take animals at that distance but my shooting has been spot on this year and I felt very confident in taking her. Stay safe everyone.

I shot this deer November 1st at about 9AM. He was maybe two yards from the base of the tree I was in. He followed my path to the tree. As he passed the tree and continued uphill, it was nearly a straight down shot. The arrow entered between ribs, through one lung, the heart and exited the opposite side, just missing the breastbone. As he ran the arrow got bent and pulled out the back slightly. He had eleven points and dressed out at 190lbs

Had been in my stand about 30 minutes when this guy gave me a perfect broadside shot. With a light, but steady rain i was worried that the tracking could be difficult, so i ran back to the house, called my buddy Jerry to help track and got my trusty German Shepherd to lead the way. Fortunately the tracking job was very short(approx 50 yds). Thanks to Jerry for getting out in the rain and serving as my photographer. Hopefully i can return the favor soon. OK first off I wish it was a LH B handle that's one bow that I can't seem to get bought. The bow is a LH '68 SK with the shelf cut down. When he first showed up about 70 yards away I didn't get to excited but once he got to 20 yards and I saw both G2's were split along with a few other odd points I got quite excited. He finally gave me a good broadside at about 14 yards away. I made a good shot and he was on the ground in less than 50 yards. He's one of the few deer that I've got that had no ground shrinkage and he was even better than I thought once I got my hands on him. It is one deer that I will never forget.

Thanks to all for the nice words.

Been on deer all year and finally got one on 12/21 . . . Tensas NWR. Blacktail VL, 46lbs @ 28", with Sitka spruce arrow I make, with Snuffers. 18 yard shot, 60 yard recorvery - watched him fall!

Good Luck to those still hunting, scrapes just started the weekend I took this one. 30 more days of prime hunting.
