Folks, my idea to promote traditional archery events across the country is going great.

There are folks from nineteen different states that believe in this endeavor as well (one from Hawaii).

I'm finding out about events I've never heard of before, rather large events at that.

I truly feel you'll like this idea as well, PM or email me to find out more about the "American Traditional Archer".

Pretty cool logo, right?

Love the logo. Could see that on some shirts or hats.

Date: 05-Sep-14

Well Melvin, the only design I've seen on the 101st Airborne certainly doesn't resemble the American Eagle I have here, but if you've served and you are a Vet my friend, you can say what ever you like :-)

Terry Harris

By the way Kirk, my first shirts with this logo on the back, should be arriving today for some of those believers I mentioned at the beginning of this thread.

The front left breast design is different but looks very good in my opinion.

The 1st is the back, the "ATA" is on the front left breast area.

Do you have it in white, or another light color? It stays hot or very warm in southern Louisiana for the better part of the year.

From: THarris
Date: 06-Sep-14

Robert, the colors are Black, Navy, Chocolate Brown, Cardinal Red & Forrest Green, sorry but nothing lighter.

The white screening wouldn't show up as well.

Lighter shirts would require darker screening, more set-up cost, maybe later.

Thanks for all the positive responses folks.

You use white markings on dark colors, what is the problem with putting dark marking on a white/light-colored Tee? A curious Cajun wants to know.

From: THarris
Date: 07-Sep-14

As I said earlier, to set up a different color screening would cost extra and right now, just getting started, I'm trying to keep my cost down a little.

Nick, I'm putting quite a database together from events all around the country, many I've never heard of. I've also gotten representatives from 21 states that want to be a part of this, I'm very encouraged this will be something everyone will enjoy being a part of.

From: George D. Stout Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Terry started this from scratch, so he doesn't have money to to a lot of things regarding tee shirts or other things. Maybe down the road....if we get enough support. More support, then maybe gray tee shirts with dark lettering next year.

Terry, I might be wrong but ATA may be a copyright of Archer's Trade Association. Not sure they will care, just letting you know.

From: THarris
Date: 07-Sep-14

Well John, I've seen many ATA's over the years, I once belonged to another ATA, the American Taekwondo Association, in my younger years :-). That's when I could kick head high, now if I tried that, important things would pop loose, LOL.

If you Google "ATA" organizations, there are many.

If the A's & the T are exactly the same and are inside an arrowhead designed for me, I might be concerned.

But, I agree with you, I'm sure they probably wouldn't care..

Robert, you're not stepping on my toes my friend, just explaining, in a bad way I guess, what George is saying.

Terry, give us details on:

1. the deadline for shoot info. I may have more info to send you on another shoot here in Michigan. Just got back from one today and it is a great trad shoot.

2. How do I obtain a shirt:

From: THarris

Hi Jon, the deadline to get event information is November 14th, 2014 to make sure everything will go out by the 1st of 2015.

I'm putting together a list and when I have a dozen or so, I'll order some more, I'll put you down.

I had a good friend who tried to get me to learn to sky dive while in my late teens.

I told him I wasn't jumping out of a perfectly good airplane, especially if I wasn't gettin' paid to do it :-)

Hi Robert and thanks, by the way the High Country shoot in Colorado is listed as well as the Stick Bow Round Up in Texas, you're referring to, Mike.

By the way, I don't think I have either of you down as ATA Members :-)

You both need to check the American Traditional Archer out.

I'll PM you with more details.

Terry - My pleasure. You have earned the support and respect of traditional archers through your hard work in organizing traditional shoots that thousands of archers and their families have enjoyed for several years. I know that I certainly enjoyed the Howard Hill match that I attended in Alabama with my son and my grandson a few years ago. Some of the best archers in that part of the country attended for wonderful competition. I had a chance to meet some of the best bowyers and fletchers there too, along with other excellent vendors. You organized it, you made it happen with your positive and friendly attitude. Good job, my friend.

Now you are working to let others know about other fine traditional shooting opportunities around the country and that is a very good thing for every archer who draws a bow. I say that American Traditional Archer (ATA)is a very good idea and I hope it helps many traditional archers find 3D competitions to attend.

Thank you so much Robert, ya know, YOU CAN come back :-)

I'm getting' old you know. I would, however, like to come to the High Country shoot one day in Colorado one day.

I keep finding more events for the "American Traditional Archer" event schedule. I have approximately 80 major events all across the country.

Going into 2016, I'm sure there'll be more.

Just think, if you want to make your plans, you have all these events for the ENTIRE YEAR!

I served in the 101st Pathfinders and heard "Puking Buzzard" all the time. But the one I heard that made me smile was "Choking Chicken". The 82nd, was the "Jumping Junkies", 173rd was the "Flying butter knife". Some were pretty creative.
