I am shooting a Howatt Super Diablo at 28" draw and 40 pounds. My carbon arrows are cut at 29" and weigh 464 grains. The chronograph says I am getting 140 fps. This speed seems low to me. Should I try arrows closer to 400 grains?

That bow should be shooting 170 or better. Some folks might say you are tad bit heavy, but I do not think it is arrow weight, check the chronograph. Or you have a really sloppy release.

Could be a combination of things...............sloppy release, bad string maybe your draw length is not 28". I'd be disinclined to get lighter arrows until you try other things first.

At 28 inches, that's poking. The arrow is about 11.5 gpp, which isn't helping. Get a Barbee string, clean up the release, and get it to 10 gpp or less. You'll pick some up. God Bless

My bet is you are short drawing.

Those bows are not dogs so something else is in play. Short drawing? Creeping on release? Heavy dacron string? I would work on getting to draw and a dynamic (pull through) release to get the most out of the bow.
