After years of messing with a lot of quivers and a lot of bows, I keep going back to the same old longbow and my HH backquiver. The bow shoots every arrow I have flawlessly. The quiver just feels good on my back.
Just curious if anyone uses only a backquiver for hunting. My treestand is only about 200 yards from my doorstep so I won't be traveling far. THanks for all replies.

90% of my hunting is with a back quiver. Use the Catquiver III when hunting in the rain. Been using a back quiver since 1977....

The only thing I don't like about my Backquiver is not being able to carry a Backpack. If I have a waistpack/haversack it is fine.
In weather where I need to shed/add layers or if I get caught out in rain, I THEN regret not having a backpack.
I'm looking at ways to be able to have both.

Yes, I only use the back quiver for hunting although I hang it from a cup hook on the main trunk of the tree when hunting from a tree stand.

I never use anything but a back quiver, mostly my hh, it is about 35 years old, put several new straps over the years, relaced the bottom a couple of times. I do have several back quivers that I made over the years, my favorite of those is one I made from an old leather mail bag I bought at a yard sale.

I don't like em. Can't carry a treestand or backpack. Arrows get caught on everything. Bend over they fall out. Just not for me.

I carry a backpack attached to my treestand, and even if I don't carry the treestand I always carry a backpack to pack into public land. A backquiver just doesn't seem very feasible for me. I carry a quickee quiver on my bow. Super easy to pack my arrows in, and then I hang it in the tree when I get there. Also, how do you keep your broadheads seperated in the back quiver. Are there seperate compartments for each arrow?

About half the time. Made it in the mid 90's, my first effort at making a quiver.
I do not have a problem with arrows falling out and with the leather laces I have added I can tie off my rain gear to the bottom of the quiver.
I do not like a bow quiver, at all.

yes. I have used the same HH backquiver since 1984. I use a teardrop shaped backpack that has one cross chest strap and a waistbelt (sling bag). This backback lays below my backquiver. Skeet

Babysaph, you need to get a quiver like the one I acquired a couple weeks ago, The Riverwolf Alpha Quiver. I have a mini catquiver, but this quiver has it beat 99.9% hands down, it's a shoulder tube type quiver. He makes them for right and left hand shooters. The opening allows you to draw a broadhead out, and it protects the arrows.
There was a posting on quivers a couple months ago, and Riverwolf had a photo of the quiver, along with his hat and bow, against a stump. See a lot of pros to this quiver, no cons, yet. Just in practice, hopefully the 27th of this month I'll be trying it out in the woods.

I have a few bowquivers and various back and side quivers. I have still not found one that feels and works as well for me as my Howard Hill back quiver that has been my favorite regardsless of what style bow I am using. It has seen so much use that I need to re-lace the seams since they seem to have worn/rotted through.

I’m 100% back quiver; mostly a Catquiver I that I’ve been using for nearly 25 years, but I also have a “trad” backquiver that I made from a couple of deer hides I had around…. It kind of strikes me as a bad thing that it smells strongly of leather… with the focus we tend to put on scent control and all… But no deer is going to sniff out the quiver and miss the scent of the guy carrying it, so every time I catch a whiff it reminds me that I’m not playing the wind as well as I need to be…
When necessary, I’ve attached the Catquiver under the compression straps of a larger pack. It’s not nearly as good that way, but still more to my liking than a bow quiver. Besides – I have mine rigged out to carry a whole lot more than the original design was intended to (including a 90 oz. water bladder), so I can go for quite a full day with it.
