Here are a few photos of an older Browning Fury II I recently stumbled on. It was an impulse buy. I am often a day late and a dollar short when it comes to finding such a good bow is this condition.

It has a few light handling marks and the lower limb had a slight twist which I straightened.

It is 60" and 50#. There are no holes or bushings. The overlays are well done. This bow seems much better then a Wing and Bear KH I owned from around the same time frame.

I might knock the gloss finish down some and try an elevated rest. A better string will help too. Maybe this old bow will rejuvenate my declining interest in archery and hunting?

I wouldn't touch that one! The glossier the better in my opinion!

If you ever want to sell it let me know!! I love old browning bows, they're top notch quality. I had a chance at a safari a while ago and I let it get away from me. I kick myself every time I think about it.

The Fury is a sleeper too. Those are some shootin' dudes. At least they always have been for me.

Great looking bow.

Enjoy.

thanks guys. after further thought, I might leave the gloss finish as-is. i'll look for a way to just tone it down with some wax or skinz/covers when hunting.

fdp, i agree. it's a very good shooting bow. it also seems to be tolerant of different spines. I like that in a bow! I am anxious to get a better string for it.

I never liked the gloss finish for a hunting bow so I would just spray paint it in camo. The paint comes off easy with some DW40 when you want to take it to a shoot and show it off.

Good looking bow, kinda a newby by most standards, how did you get the twist out of the limb? I know a severe twist is probably not do-able, but I have a Pearson with a very slight twist in the upper limb. Thanks, -Bones

dry bones, I have taken much worse twist out of limbs then this one. with it strung, I just twist the limb and then leave it strung for at least a few days afterwards. sometimes you have to twist it again (and again) but in this case, it stayed straight after only one attempt.

I have read where some apply heat for the more severe twists. I never have. to me the key has been to twist it when strung, and leave it strung.

I would not dull the bow either. There are Browning collectors out there and that bow looks in primo condition. Dulling it would cut its value . Browning was know for their finishes in those days. Their firearms, shotguns, rifles, had that high gloss perfect finish also. For some of us that was the appeal. Wheatherby was the only other one who had that quality of finish.

Thanks Elkhuntr, I think I may try it. Mine does not have much of a twist, so minimal that most people have not even noticed it. And Agreed with M60 about the finish. It's a beauty the way it is.

I love the Brownings, and believe they were second to none, even the Bears.

That bow an finish is a Bo Derek 10+ an day of the week. LOL! Put limb covers on her when you hunt to tone her down some an enjoy your find...

Elkhuntr, the Browning's were IMO the best quality and performance of all the manufactured classics from the 60's and 70's hands down no comparisons.

I now have 7 Browning recurves so I guess I think they are some of the best ever built!

If you're going to stumble on to one, that is a pretty good one to trip over. 8^). Beautiful Rosewood in that one. Enjoy.
