Ok folks, had to start wearing glasses. Looking for any tips for shooting. Right now at full draw the frames are in my target view. I'm talking about the left portion of frame going from lenses to ear. (right handed shooter)

I shoot much better with glasses as I can only see about 9 inches distant without them.
I explained how I shoot my bow to my optician, showed him that the upper left corner of the right lens is important to me and he helped me pick frames that are small and fit close to my eye.

good luck I go put my contacts in. or shoot at the blur spot. can not get use to glasses when shooting trad. once string ripped them off me and bent the ---- out of them. in cold winter they fog bad. contacts are pretty easy put in and out after a month of using them sometimes I wear them for a week straight with no problems.

Don't tip your face into the string! Look straight ahead and draw TO your anchor!

SB nailed it! Ive been shooting with glasses for years, and have learned to look straight ahead and not tip my face into the string. It takes a bit of getting used to, but well worth the effort to adjust. With picking a small spot being crucial for accuracy in what we do, Ive found that the difference in shooting with and without my glasses is like night and day when it comes to my performance.

I had to stop using glasses when shooting - I have progressive lenses which are NOT recommended for archery since they really mess up sight picture. I just got contact lenses for distance only and I'm back in the grove - and also no more frame interference or foggy glasses.

I wear glasses all year shooting 3Ds, then switch back to my contact lenses to hunt. Started wearing contacts in 1969, so only wearing them for hunting season is no problem. So why not get contacts? Especially since you can get soft ones that have a quick break-in period. There's no problems with contacts like there are with glasses. Once you are used to them, it's like you are't wearing anything.
By the way, the reason I don't wear the contacts all year is because I'm older, and lazier now, but would never hunt without them.

It took me a loooong time to get used to shooting with glasses. I eventually began to naturally anchor on my cheek, next to where I anchored in the corner of my mouth. I also had to learn to cant the bow more to keep from touching the frames. I also have to use glasses without nose pads or I look through the hole under the bridge.

It just dawned on me you are talking about seeing the left temple piece of your glasses frame. It is possible that you are over bowed and collapsing down into the anchor. If it is simply a form issue, like Steven suggested don't drop your face down to your anchor, look straight ahead, draw the bow fully back into your anchor. It may help if you turn your face a bit to the left (for a right-handed shooter). I have always shot with glasses, you should not be seeing them as you release.

I also have progressive lenses and it ain't good. Contacts is what I have been using for around 40 years. The glass just distorts my perspective.

well i have been wearing glasses since i was 7years old i am 57 now been wearing progressive since i was 45 . if you are seeing the frame maybe they are the bigger trendy frames which i despise been wearing the smaller ones for along time i see more because i do not have a 1/4 in plastic all around the lenses and lenses that set on my cheeks because they are huge .i can tell you from my view get smaller frames .maybe this will help you .i cannot remember not wearing glasses so that something that you must overcome .you did not mention your age.

Can't figure you boys out that have a problem with glasses. I have smaller lenses, progressive bifocals too. I don't have any trouble. Bows, guns, all the same. Guess I have a good eyedoc, and I'm very talented too boot! Btw, I'm right handed and left eye dominate also. It helps that I've been shooting since Noah built the ark too.

Make sure to turn your head enough to help move your view thru your glasses as far to their center as practical.

i have many issues with sights on handguns and rifles but have never had a problem with the bow. Maybe I am missing something but if you don't have sights on a bow why would you have a problem with glasses. You have to pick a spot on the target or animal. everything else is out of focus anyway. If your anchor is such that it does not allow you to see you would have to change your anchor just as you would if you insisted on a certain hat brim or face mask or change in dental work or facial feature. What am I missing?

If the left part of your frame from lense to ear is in your sight pic, maybe you are left eye dominant. I can't see how you can get that in your sight pic for a right handed shooter. But then like many others I've been wearing glasses for 50 plus years and don't even notice a problem. I adjust without thinking about it.

shoot with glasses now that older,
can shoot with progressives , but occasionaly they distort distance , if not turning head just right in a huried situation
have found that a just distance prescription works better, or a very SMALL bifocal to see up close when needed; keep a pair in the truck just for shooting
otherwise use the progressive

I use rap around glasses for athletics..It puts the frame further out to the side so it wont interfere or obstuct vision.
Another thing you will want to consider if you hunt is that if you wear a facemask if its over the nose on cold days your glasses may fog up.Pull the facemask under your nose to prevent that

Thanks for the advice folks. I think I got it now. Tried shooting without crouching on the string so much and keeping my face more square to the target. It's something that is gonna take a awhile to get used to.

You have another problem that will come up also. If you hunt in cooler weather wearing glasses and get a little warm walking in. Your glasses will fog over until you cool off. Sometimes this happens just as you get ready to draw on deer or animals that come by soon after getting on stand.
I have tried dozens of anti fogging solutions through out the years and have not found any that work well.
