I picked up this 59 Kodiak.

The coin isn't copper like the other one I have and was curious what it is made of? Is it better to have a copper one for value? Is it an earlier 59? It is a very nice condition looking 60" 50#@28". I haven't shot it yet but the archery store owner said it shoots like a dream.

There was also a orange kodiak with brush tips in 60#. Should have taken a picture of it but forgot. I didn't have the money for both but may have to go back for that one too. It was really mint condition.

Man that's a nice one. Could be a late 59 with an aluminum coin.

What color are the tips?

Probably a 1960 model. Bear had overlaps also, and would run with what he had. The models changed in September, but the new catalogs came out the following January. I believe the 60's had the aluminum coin.

If the overlays are red and white it's a 59. Black and white it's a 60. You cannot always go by the coin. Sometimes they changed them during a model year.

Does the serial number signify a 62?

It's a beauty bow for sure.

tips are black and white. So I guess its a 60. What would you place the value on it then? I guess it must not be worth quite as much as a 59? Not sure why as they look made the same otherwise.

Actually 1960 models are more scarce than '59's for some reason.

The 1960 is the better bow. Better limb profile with more pronounced hooks, better tips and riser overlays that are fiberglass instead of compressed paper.

I'd wager it's more valuable than the '59 in your stable.

I like the 60s better than the 59. The grip feels better to me.

Nice find,,not too many made which keeps the price up a little more than most of the Kodiaks evan in this market. Just as smooth as the '59 to draw and shoot. I think they're just as fast as the 64's,,not much mass weight but still very nice to shoot.

thanks for your replies.

I'll have to string her up today and see what I think of how she shoots. Nice to know about the overlays being glass. I remember that was an issue on some of the 59ers.
