I just bought a Kodiak magnum off ebay and I have a few questions about it. the serial number is km-873. 55#

1. what year Is the bow?

2. can it shoot a fast flight string safely?

3. I don't have much experience with limb twist but im pretty sure this bow is slightly twisted to the left in the upper limb. will it get any worse if I take care of it and always use a bowstringer? how do you fix it?

any help would be appreciated

Pics might tell us year, but serial tells me 70's. Pic could also tell us if FF safe, but even then some use FF with padded loops without problem.

Minor twist is usually no problem. String it, pull it back and see if string returns to groove. If not, grasp bow below twist with one hand while twisting in opposite direction from tip area. Hold for a few seconds and repeat. Leave bow strung and repeat over a period of a few days and it should return to normal.

Avoid hot water or high heat, however your hair dryer on low setting may speed up the process.

KM doesn't necessarily mean 70's, it could be a Gainesville bow.

A photo clears it up? Riser color...medallion or coin? Doe's it say Gainesville, Fl, or Grayling, Mi on the inner limb?

it is a Gainesville I forgot to say that. fred bears face is in the coin instead of the bear. bow riser is half bluish grey half tan colour. tips look pretty substaintial black with white streaks.

Blackhawk- string does return to groove but you can tell it isn't completely centered further down limb towards riser.

won this bow for 223$ Canadian including shipping

You can bump it closer to center by working it like Blackhawk said. You can use any string you want on that, either Dacron or modern low stretch. D97 is a good choice that is affordable and a good choice for that bow. If you want B-50 Dacron, PM stilldub (Barry Hughes)...he makes great strings and very affordable.

Bow is late 90s vintage.
