I'm having to wrap dental floss around the serving to get perfect nock fit, but can't get it to stay on and after about 50 shots it unravels. I guess I'm not tying it on right? How do some of you get dental floss to stay put?

Look up "whip finish" or even "nail knot" to give you an idea of how to secure it. It is very simple to drop a loop, than wrap under it several times and pull it through to clinch.

Instead of floss, reserve with a thicker thread. Frank

place the tag end of the floss lengthwise on the arrow nock area starting wrapping up the length of the string toward nock set while covering the tag when done with wrap feed through opening in nock and tie off to string with an improved clinch knot. You could even clamp the tag end under the nock before you start the wrap making it even more secure

or ... get a serving tool and buy some thicker serving...
might cost a bit but in the long run you can have a good fit without the hassle.

In the old days, we put the nock in hot water until it was soft, and then squeezed the nock until it fit just right on the serving. No need for floss.

It was a perfect fit for awhile, but the more I shot, the more a "groove" has developed.

Thicker serving or thicker string or smaller nock or Teflon the string and reserve or double serve or. More detail would help me to help you lol. Cameron

Deadringer, another reason to buy a " string serving " tool and a spool of serving. It is cheaper than anew string. For me wrapping stuff over the serving to build up the groove was a waste of time. Never seemed to get the right fit.

I was going to suggest the old hot water adjustment but since you said your serving is grooved, I guess it is time to reserve. I like to adjust mine as Riverwolf said so they release with a tap.

Paul, like mentioned, reserve the string but you might try this, sometimes the serving is only loose where you nock the arrow, what I've had success with a few times is to grab the serving by hand or gently with a pair of pliers just bellow the nocking point and push the serving up tight, if it moves up keep moving it up a little at a time working your way down until the whole serving is pushed up, you might be able to move the whole serving up swelling it up at the arrow. Sometimes serving material is too thick! I've used 20 lb. test power pro braided fishing line. Usually serve approximately 1/2". Moss Green in color, works great.
