I know I'm suppose to be thinning the herd but I have been drooling over one of these bows for some time now and with the history that comes along with it...well I couldn't deny myself. I might add that talking with and doing business with Jay was a real pleasure. The yew in this bow is on fire! I know the pics won't do it justice. Can't wait to get home and fling some arrows:)

love it I wish I had one

Steve, that is STUNNING! I do see the fire in that yew. I know about that "thinning the herd" mindset, and then you run into a bow like this, and that plan flies right out the window. The simple, classic lines of the riser underscore the natural beauty of yew, it's purity, and the fact that it's connected to the first generation Thunderbird. Nothing else out there looks like a Thunderbird, they are unique.

I think that your Thunderbird will be "thinning the herds" itself first time you take it hunting.

Thanks so much gentleman. I think one of the Widows is going to a new home so I guess I'm good :)

1st 3 arrows at 15 yards. That's a good omen as far as I'm concerned:)

Jay is a standout in our archery community. Builds a truly great bow based on perhaps the most time tested design available today. Beautiful bow you have there!

Great looking bow!!! Can you take some photos of it unstrung?

Thanks,

Hank

I really want to shoot one of these, but, on the other hand if I do I'm afraid I will have to have one. I too have been drooling over these for some time. Really good looking bow you have there, I'm happy for you. Eric

What a great looking bow, if I've been wanting one for awhile but they don't pop up very often.very cool

Thanks everyone. This bow flat smokes an arrow. Jay gave me 2 strings. It has Dacron on it now but he sent an Astroflite as well.I'll put that on tonight and give it a try.

Dang...I feel like a turd. I live just a short distance from Jay, and for some reason I don't have one of those on my rack. I think I gotta call before he retires the form.

BTW, your bow is a honey!

I had a really tough go around with myself over that bow -- not that ONE imparticular, but the 2nd generation Thunderbird. My practical side won out and I did not order one.

Now you come along and show me this. Thank you Steve.

I'd say that Thunderbird is a winner.

Nothing short of excellent!

One of the few bows left on “the list”

Jay told me I could lower the brace "quite a bit" using D10 and similar. There is a bit of improvement all the way around with something like an SBD string I have noticed.

From: Steve Milbocker
Date: 30-Jul-14

I'm running the Astroflite at 7". I've been from 6 1/2 to 7 1/4. Arrow flight was good every where I've tried it. Noise was the only difference it seemed to make and not much at that.

nice bow Steve, one of my dream bows to have a St. Charles Thunderbird' ya got it man im sure you will enjoy it, it's a beaut! Ken

Alot of the first run 2nd gen T Birds where signed by Glen St Charles,, mine says "Happy Hunting Glen St Charles" on the lower limb. when he passed I decided then to never sell it but others who have them might.

after seeing this thread I decided to break mine out and shoot a few maybe a 8" group at 25yds right after stringing and I haven't shot it since last September I think when deer season opened.

the grip is what I really like about the T-bird,,,,, no other bow maker at the moment makes a grip like this on a recurve it fits your hand so perfect.

I'll get some pics up soon in here.

If I were ever to buy a new bow the Thunderbird is at the top of my list. I've owned other St. Charles bows made by Jay and their craftsmanship is excellent. Beautiful bow Steve.

Those are wonderful shooting bows. It's hard to believe how much speed Jay gets out of these simple designs. One of the quietest bows I've ever shot; recurve or longbow.

From: Steve Milbocker
Date: 02-Aug-14

Dave I was pleasantly surprised at the speed . Just frosting on the cake of this beautiful bow. After the pics Jay sent me last night of the highly figured Thunderbird, see the thread " I love yew", I'm thinking I'm going to have to get Jay to build me a longbow as well:)

I see there is a left handed Thunderbird listed in the classifieds if anyone is looking for one.
