Had a friend of mine come by to shoot my 56# Border Black Douglas with Hex 6 BB2 limbs. He had been looking at the Hex 6s for his Ilf bow but couldn't find anyone with Border Hex 6 limbs. Long story short, he came away amazed and so did I.

I had been shooting 615 grain arrows and my Border really slings them. He brought his own 460 grain arrows and we were both amazed. Shooting at 37 yards, the trajectory was almost completely flat. They were SMOKING! Had to be shooting 220 fps, simply amazing! Think I will drop down to some lighter hunting arrows myself.

Great bow performance and you can't beat the flat trajectory !

wait till you try the HEX 7.

So do Hex 6 and/or 7 fit on ILF risers?

I've had the Border HEX 6 and currently have Morrison Max 2. They are very similar in all respects but the Max 2's are much easier to tune and they are quieter than the Borders, The HEX 7 I had not shot but they sound unreal.

I have owned all 3.. the Hex 7 is the best IMHO, for me and I have no trouble tuning my Covert Hunters. I use simple wool puffs and my Border bows are dead silent. I like the Morrison static limbs, but they aren't the performers that the hex 6 and 7's are.. To each his own. There are a few high quality rigs out there and Morrison is one of them.

I've heard the Coverts are easy to tune. That's a really good thing.

Anyone have pic of these bows? I would like to see the coverts, do the handles have big grips or will they custom make the size you want

I don't feel the grips are excessively big. You can order a grip the way you want it to be

wow that is an aggressive looking recurve

Hex 7? Wow, I traded my Hex 5's for Hex 6-H with BB2. Not sure how it could get any better but I'm glad to see the progression. IMO the brace height on the bows above look a little low, but yea the curve is drastic!

What is a hard bow to tune?

Beautiful bows. You guys are killing me. What are the AMO lengths of the Covert Hunters shown? What lengths are they offered in? Thanks - John

From: olbuflo

Best looking recurves I've seen. Classically smooth, rounded riser w/limbs inset, not blockish at all. Given the extreme recurve of the limbs, are these bows hard to string? I'm asking about a hunting-weight bow.

As far as I've heard the HEX 7 are for the Covert Hunter, not to be used on a Black Douglas riser.I have a Black Douglas with XP30 limbs and HEX 5 limbs.Sid recommended a 7" brace height, and not over 7.5".I have mine set up right at 7.25",shoots great there for me.Type in Border HEX 7 on youtube.com and check it out. There is a few video's on it.

When the Hex 7 first came out it was only available in the Covert Hunter. Now they are also available in ILF. Like what Moosehunter said, the grip is very very nice. They can make it however you want ( except low grip) . I have heard that Border risers have "blocky" grips. This couldn't be further from the truth.

My Covert Hunter is a 19" riser and XL limbs . I believe they make them up to 23". They can customize however you want with all different wood choices ( as long as one of the woods is Shedua) I had buffalo horn inlays on the front of the risers which makes for a really nice looking bow.

Got me a set of these limbs on a bear TD they are faster than fast. The only thing I don't like is the extreame curve in the tips it makes it harder to string. Boomarang comes to mind.LOL

Thinking about selling but haven't yet.

I'm pretty happy with the CV-H limb, I had the Hex6 for a while and don't see that much difference in performance between these two limbs.

Border products perform and look great, a lot of thought goes into their Bows.

Ryman, are those using ILF fittings?

Boarder makes a Bear limb. I think #2 limbs but not sure.

From: AKRogbo

Disregard, I was uneducated on the TD limb attachment until now.

I own 2 black douglas ( bolt on) HEX 6.5 64" and around 60# at my draw along with a couple of others. Shooting 3 under they are both extremely easy to shoot and hunting quiet with a positive 1/8" tiller and 7 1/4" BH. With a zero tiller bow was VERY noisy and much less pleasant to too shoot for me. These bow are a few steps further than most of bows regarding to shooting performance. Carbon limbs don't like too much abuse compared to fiberglass bows though. A bit pricey too but worth the money.

The Bear limbs Border makes for them are a HEX 6 limb, the HEX 5 have been discontinued for Bear limbs.

Impressive bow Pete.

From: cch

Even though these limbs have huge curves in them they are some of the easiest to string, if you use the supplied stringers. I have a set of standard hex 6h limbs on my DAS and when I got them I thought they had let off. Then I got the Covert Hunter with the hex 7h limbs and now my 6s feel like they stack. I am shooting a 550gr arrow at almost 190fps from a 47# bow. And they are very quiet. I use the DAS during the September hunting season and the CH for winter as my hands don't handle the cold very well and the wood feels much better below freezing.

Border has one of the most impressive and complete websites I have ever seen...and Pete did a great test of a Covert Hunter on his website with a link to the Border site

I want one that looks like this.......

From: cch
Date: 17-Dec-14

That looks a lot like mine. I am hoping they get their hands on some good phenolic. I want a 19" all phenolic with a solid carbon center section.

I will have to get some pics of mine with the cape buffalo engraved bronze antler limb bolts. They add weight and look awesome. Maybe when I get back from my trip hopefully I will have a pic with a coues deer for background.

here is a pic from Sid my bow is on its way to completion and the limbs came out of the spray booth today but they will not be in the shop until they return on January 5th

The Hex 7 is a sweet limb. I am shooting the Ghillie Dhu 52" 1 piece now, and that little bow is impressive.

From: cch
Date: 18-Dec-14

Pete, have you done a review of the dhu yet?

From: cch
Date: 19-Dec-14

If you order the 17" riser make sure you have a high anchor. When I shoot mine 3 under middle finger corner of my mouth the top of the riser cutout is my sight out to 25yds. So if you don't can't a bunch or don't like the riser to sight off go with the 19" riser. Sid recommended to me to go with a 19" riser and medium limbs for my 29" draw. He said I would get a few more fps over the 17" and long limbs. But I wanted to try sighting off the riser and am still working on that.
