This is actually my 3rd Predator bow now. About five years ago I had the standard Predator recurve in 62inch. It was one of those bows I always regretted selling and often thought of how wonderful it was. Last year I bit the bullet and rang the Predator dealer here in Australia.

The only one he had in stock in my specs (R/H, 62", 45#), was the new 'Impact'. I knew nothing about this model but took the gamble and ordered it. Wow - what an awesome bow. It takes the same limbs as the old Predator, but has a lower brace height on the limb pads, so shoots even flatter and harder than the standard bow. I was in bow heaven, but unfortunately, when my wife and I went to Cambodia this last Xmas break, our home was smashed into. They stole everything of value and trashed just about everything else. It was no fun coming back from vacation to face that, but fortunately insurance came to the party.

I let things settle in again, but about a month ago, I ordered my new Pittsely to replace the stolen one. The Australian dealer had a few in stock, so I took the 60", 45#, and paid the extra for the timber laminated limbs.

Man, what a gorgeous bow. It is whisper quiet with the little bow quiver on there, and just propels the arrows out like a rocket launcher. The arrows go right where I point (well, most times).

I will never need another bow. After 20 odd custom bows over the last 20 yrs, I am done looking. There is nothing better out there - this bow just smokes everything else I have ever owned.

The best R/D longbows I ever had were the Firefly Jim Jones bows, but I actually shoot a recurve bow better, so I am a one bow man now.

Does anybody out there have one of these bows? For some silly reason I heard that you guys in the States have a hard time trying to buy this 'Impact' model WTH????

I have owned several bows over the years but never a Predator. I've heard nothing but goods things about. One of my shooting buddies, 72 has only one bow. The predator. When we go to the 3D range we all carry 12 arrows. Jack carries 3. Never misses. Awesome shooter, Awesome bow. He's 72. and pulls a 52# like butter:)))

It is indeed a "wow" when a bow fits you well and performs the way you like. Very nice.

Sweet bow,I like the profile. My buddy got one awhile back but hasn't brought it out to the club so I can shoot it.He's recovering from shoulder surgery right at the moment and shooting lighter weight bows right now.I have a Predator Classic myself,I have been wanting to shoot the new Impact model.

Nice to hear you are getting back on your feet after the robbery. I couldn't imagine going threw that. Congrats on your new bow! Looks nice. Do you hunt or just target shoot with it? Would love to visit Australia some day!!!

Nice bow! I have the "Impact" riser too. After a 10 year search, it has become my main bow. I have 3 Predator risers, 2 RH and 1 LH. 3 sets of limbs, gives me some good options.

I shoot the Impact riser with some 39# limbs the most, for light limbs, the arrows seem to fly fast.

Enjoy

I have not owned a Predator recurve although I recently obtained a Predator Lobo longbow. Very nice shooter, hope to try a recurve sometime soon.

Hi 'cutitout' - I mainly just do stump shooting now. I live in the desert in Western Australia and we have heaps of feral goats, rabbits, foxes and even donkeys, camels and buffalo a bit further out. However, as I get older I seem to like killing things less and less. My wife is Vietnamese and in her country goat 'hot-pot' is a real delicacy, so she has asked me to get her a goat sometime. There are no bags or tags on any feral animals here in Australia, you can hunt them as long and as hard as you like.

I find it very relaxing just wandering around this huge immense country - often where no White Man has been before - and hurling my arrows at stumps and ant's nests etc. It takes me back to when I was a kid growing up in New Zealand - it is very cathartic and heals the soul in this mad commercial world.

Do you have to special order it? I don't see it offered on their site.

This is the strange thing. I have communicated with several people from the States, and they say that the 'Impact' model is hard to find there. It seems odd to me - the bows are made in America so they should be able to be bought there. Hunter's Niche don't even have it on the website. Here in Australia - they are easy to buy.

Blake1084, I just called and talked to Ron at Hunter's Niche and at the time he had two in stock. That was the spring of 2013.

I took some time today to see just how fast the Predator is with the Impact riser and the #39 limbs. My draw is 28".

426 gn 3555 Gold Tip: 3 shots 185, 184, 186 fps

449 gn 1916: 3 shots 176, 178, 179 fps

478 gn 2016: 3 shots 172, 177, 175 fps

Faster than I thought it would be with the light weight limbs. I'm not all about speed, but this bow just works for me. Suttoman, have fun shooting your new bow.

Wow - That is smoking fast dude. Thanks so much for that, because we really don't see any chrono's here in Australia, so I could only guess the speed of my bow.

Even with over 10gpp, it is shooting in the high 180's. You imagine if it had the conventional 9gpp, it would be up in the 190's. Blackie Schwarz did the test on the conventional Predator and it was one of the fastest bows he ever tested.

Do you have the conventional Predator riser - I would love you to do a comparison?

Cheers

Philip

It was faster than I expected. I do have a conventional riser that I will test and compare. Probably won't be able to until next week.
