Good Morning CD and all of the First Shooters. Sunny and 70 at 1200. Shot at 45 yards today from the Gazebo landing elevated about 14 feet. #58 Shelton and 3555 GT Trad. I didn't hit the foam spot, but at that distance, I'll take it.

All My Best,

Fred

I shot 14 yds quartering away with a Black Canyon 62" LB 49#s. We have had a much needed soaking rain today. Our tomato plants are saying thank you! Everyone have a good weekend!

Greetings. It's been a long time since I've taken part in the first shot. I intend to start participating again. Today was at 20 yds, over a bush, slightly quartering away. Shot was made with my "new to me" Timberhawk Monarch, 52#@28". Bow is very smooth and I like it very much! Everyone have a great day.

My "first shots" today were in the garage. I was shooting in the hickory self bow I'm working on. It's STILL raining. Dang, enough, enough.

20 yds standing, slightly elevated. I was shooting at the frog. I will put off the broadhead practice until Monday. My shots got better and I actually had a group of 3 with one in the frog on my 3rd try. That 1st one was way off though. 57# Jeffery TD and 2216s. These are my hunting shafts.

Taxyman. Is 40 yds your point blank range? Looks pretty strong in the 10 ring there.

My first shot in a few days... about 6" higher than I wanted. I took my shot after we got home from church. About 18 yards and had to squat down a little to get a view of the target under some leafy branches. Shot 3-under with bow vertical. Used my '66 Kodiak.

Well I didn't get to post on Saturday and I missed the First Shot on Friday. Even worse, I'm traveling next week and won't get a chance to shoot at all. So on Sunday I took the inspiration from the Friday shot to create a hard canting shot scenario. First, here's picture of a nice buck in a soybean field from Friday, headed to work.

I know it's hard to see but that buck is wide and high. Right after this shot he bedded in the soybeans. So the First Shot scenario is crawling on your belly down the row of beans 20 yards from this bruiser and waiting with your head down and your butt back on your heels for him to stand up so you can rise just barely over the beans with your bow horizontal and plant a broadhead in his chest. I used the 68 lb. 64 inch 1953 static tip Kodiak K-4 for this attempt with 660 grain doug fir arrows with 200 grain field tips. Shot high on the first shot, tried again without improvement. Have a great week First Shooters!
