I used a Shakespeare Necedah.
First I cut out stencils Then I did an undercoat in camo tan I used a spray adhesive on the back of the stencils, just a light coat. Then I applied them to the bow Next I sprayed the topcoat of slate black.
This was a precursor to doing a refinish on a Bear Kodiak.

Looks good. I used to do that all the time, but I used more leaves and didn't bother with any glue just hold them over the bow and spray the second, or third, color.

Dan, I've done that on different things too. This has a sharper and different effect.

I like the effect, sometimes less is more when it comes to a camo pattern. What manufacturer / brand sells slate black if you are willing to share? Or is that just a marketing term and it's really only flat black?

Firewater, honestly is just flat black. I picked the can that the cap looked a little more gray than black. I wasn't going for a camo pattern perse as much as a design. I'm still tossing around in my mind what I want to do to the Kodiak. I have Bear decals on the way for the refinish.

You can buy various camo stencils on eBay, or probably elsewhere, and use portions of those stencils to create more of an artistic design, rather than a full camo pattern. I look forward to seeing your result on the Kodiak. I think Krylon makes five shades of flat camo colors in a spray can.
