Today's shot will be the Horizontal Obstruction Shot from 23 yards. This is the shot where there is something about half way between you and the target (at 12 to 15 yards) that blocks your vision to the kill zone; but your arrow should arc over the object without any issues. Post pics of your view to the target if you like. Shoot safe!
God Bless,
CD

I'm ashamed to say I have never practiced or tried this shot. I set it up as described with the obstruction about half way to the target.

I knew the shot would work but I had no confidence in my ability to judge the thing so I used a judo head so I could find my arrow behind the target. I really expected to shot high. It was foggy and 50 degrees at 0730. I am still shooting my Ben Pearson 45# Special. I am having some back and neck issues and can't move up to the 57# Jeffery's yet. Man, I am happy with the shot. I am going to practice it some more right now. Thanks CD.

Wyatt, that Zipper has a magnetic eye for the heart shot. Definately a short blood trail and a very dead deer!
Glad I got my turkey hunting in Tuesday. Thunderstorms started about 3:00am and it is to rain all day. Has lightened up a little now. Shot from under the elevated deck by the garage.
Black Widow PSRV and a 2213 with a Zwickey Delta. Glad all my hunting feathers are treated with Loon Fly Spritz. Best waterproofng I have found. The arrow in the target was sprayed four years ago and still just beads the water without letting it soak in.
Thanks for the call CD. Great day to all.

Shot as called. Had to sit on a bucket so my obstruction would block the vitals. Prayers for all in need. Thanks for keeping up with the First Shot call CD

Thanks for the callout CD. Some good shooting today.
I spent part of yesterday helping to setup our local 3D shoot.
Took my shot shooting over part of the bedded elk antlers into but under one tine into the standing elk.

The result was a little to high. Lucky to even hit it the way the wind was blowing 27 mph.

Kneeling at 25 yards with the 58 lb. Bushbow and doug fir arrow. First arrow had the elevation right but was too far back, gut shot him. Took a second shot to put him out of his misery. Thanks for the call CD. Best to all.
