Most of the Ben Pearson recurves I have owned were usually somewhat plain, more function than beauty. This example though shows beautiful craftsmanship and uncanny shooting characteristics. The mercury capsules dampen the vibrations in a way hard to explain. It's just has a harmonic hum to it. At 35 pounds it a pleasure to pull and it's 70 in length allows the string to leave the fingers with ease. Look at the rosewood, it's just timeless beauty that I have seen in bows of late.

I meant to say the rosewood has a beauty that I have not seen in bows of late.

Here's a beauty of a Lord Mercury I had a few years ago.

Stunning.

Maybe this'll work - anyway, the golden emperor reminds me of the old Remington bdl's with the ebonite caps

I'm mostly a selfbow guy but my one weakness is the Ben Pearson bows. The Golden Sovereign series really trip my trigger. Here's an earlier Golden Emperor.

Pearson made some very attractive target bows, especially the early to mid 60's.

How about the funky Centurian?

Wasn't the Centurion a Birnie design?

You beat me to it, Lucas-- I was going to suggest the exact same thing! I think I see the fine hand of my favorite mad scientist bowyer in that one too.

George, about what year is the Centurion?

Palominos are for the most part target bows but a lot of them bridged the gap as hunting bows by offering dark glass and hunting weights. starting with the second bow from the left they are 45#, 55#, 40# 55#, 52# 42#. They are pretty good shooters as well
