Got to do a little public land hog hunting last week with some good friends. I think we killed 10 all together but these were 3 of the 4 that I took. Had a blast uniting them. I think this is more fun than deer hunting!

Here's the 3rd hog. Couldn't figure how to do both pictures at once.

See, you're a true hog hunter, unlike those Georgia guys. Now, you just need to buy yourself a bow and you're set!

Frisky, you must not have looked at those pictures very well. There's a bow in my hand in both of them! 17" DAS Dalaa with 51lb Dryad Epic limbs. Great shooter. Kevin

Oh man! What fun! I like hunting hogs better because if I nudge them, they usually settle back down and I can get back on 'em! Great job!

You've been blessed. Impressive animals you have there. Our hog hunting trip is scheduled for Memorial weekend and hope to post 1/4 of the game you took. Congrats and bon apetite.

I was shooting a Dalaa riser with Dryad Epic recurve limbs pulling 51lbs. The arrows are Easton Full Metal Jacket 400's and 145gr Eclipse broadheads with 75gr steel screw in adaptors. Total arrow weight is 580gr. All of the shots were 15yds or less. With the 2 in the top pic, the arrows fell out the other side as they started to run off. None went over 50yds. I'm really pleased with the performance of the arrow/broadheads combo. They are a blast to hunt. All of our hunting consisted of slipping through the palmettos and listening for them. The 2 on top were actually spotted on the edge of a cut milo field. My brother in law and I stalked within 35-40yds of them as they were feeding. He had first shot as I'd actually already taken the black sow in the 2nd pic. We never could quite seal the deal and they finally winded us and went back into the woods. By this time, it was getting late and we had a 1/4mi walk and a 45min canoe trip back to the truck. We decided to split up and work our way through the palmettos before meeting up on a gas line to head to the canoe. I went about 100yds and heard them rooting around. The bigger one was the first to come by. I shot her a little high and she ran maybe 20yds and vanished. The smaller one stepped out and I shot her too. She went maybe 20yds and I heard her go down. I blocked another arrow and took a few steps toward where the bigger one went. I heard a noise, looked up and saw her standing about 10yds in front of me! I put another arrow in her and she took about 3 steps and dropped. I went and met up with my brother in law and we went back and started cleaning them. I think we had them cleaned and the meat in our packs in about 20min! Still had to paddle all the way to the truck in the dark, though. Hoping to get in a couple more hunts before it's over. On public land here in Ms, you can only hunt them during an open hunting season. Turkey season is what's open right now so I've got a few more weeks to chase them. Kevin

RAPTOR wrote "Hogs are running around southern Indiana and in Southern Michigan. Just a matter of time before we will be hunting them around the midwest on a regular basis." You have never seen a wild hog in your life have you? Stop watching stupid TV shows, they are nothing but dumb poop.

Nice hogs by the way Mr Brown.

This sounds bad but I wish we had pigs to hunt. Only so we could big game hunt year round. I know it would be bad for my state though so I guess traveling south is the only option. Nice job by the way. Good looking hogs

Know that IN has a shoot on sight rule. There are a few soon will be more. We have them inside San Antonio TX and can not hunt them in the city limits.

He's shooting one of those Dalai Lamas. What does he expect to hear from me?

Joe

From: Backcountry
Date: 21-Apr-14

No wonder KM was so successful! Having the Dalai's llama to get around on during the hunt had to be a big advantage. Probably silently glided right up to them hawgs so close even Frisky couldn't have missed. Or maybe I didn't get the story right...

Anyway, good going KM. Bowhunters need to kill more of them ferrule hogs to save the ecology and other living things!

I'm really liking the FMJ's. They're really tough and penetrate better than any arrow I've used.

none to hunt yet in central IN., but when they get here I'm gonna have some fun. I don't eat pork myself, but I know a lot of people that do and I'm going to do my best to see to it they get some hog meat. Nice hogs.

Not sure why guys keep thinking pigs will be able to live anywhere in the North. If they ain't here after 500 years, they ain't going to be. Thinking a few escapees from game farms will equal hogs overtaking the world is plain stupid thinking. Morons need to stop watching TV and take everything the DRN says and divide it by 7 to get the truth.
