Don't totally cheap out. I returned two cheap targets (arrows going through after two days) and have shot out and repaired a Hurricane Bag and McKenzie Shot Blocker.
Now have a Rinehart 18-1 and a Blemished Rinehart Buck 3D from Big Jim's. Those will wear out too but will last way longer

If you can get enough used carpet cut it into strips about 48" x 18" wide. Build a compression frame or if you have a banding machine top the stack with boards and band it tight.
Last for years......

My Wife got me a Block target 9 years ago & it's just now getting the center shot out, but it's still usable. I've had it outside in the cold, snow, & heat for the last 7 years & I'm still using it. It's one of the white compressed ones. I think that's pretty good life from a target.

For the targets that you just go buy its hard to beat a rhineheart. The 18 and 1 will last a bunch of shots and there 3d are the best out there.

Sand pile works great. You can use BH and they won't get damaged.

I have 10 horse feed bags filled with old roofing insulation scattered around a 2 acre paddock beside the house.
Total cost in materials = Nothing, because I can get all of it free. And most people could if they looked out for it as it's stuff that gets thrown away..
Depending on how much I shoot,a bag should last a couple of months before I need to slip another one on.
I've had a couple around 10 years an just keep rebagging them as needed.
Jack.

Any Rheinhart target, cost more, but worth every penny.
