What is probably considered a crappy compound bow one finds at a garage sale, flea market, etc., is now restored as a Super Recurve.

A 1980 Bear, that usually gets paired with Samick Sage limbs, however this riser was a little off so it was fitted with some inexpensive Carbon ILF Limbs. The Dovetails were taken out and the rockers that came with the riser were glued onto the limbs.

Guy out in Kentucky did all the work and tweaking. The riser was even painted with $400 a gallon Cadillac paint :)

This thing is perfectly balanced in the throat of the grip, not a lot of mass weight, but sits there like a rock. Zero vibration and almost hunting quiet. Has a simple stick on rest with a felt spot. The rest is made from vinyl siding.

oh.... and it shoots :)

I have not shot a bow that shoots this good in a long time.

thank you for the nice comments... I was shooting at our indoor range at 20 yards. It is a Bear Polar Compound riser, I cut up the limbs and used them for tip overlays on my homemade longbows.

Minus shipping charges I have about $70 in this rig.

Hal, is it ILF or is it bold on limbs with a rocker pivot?

$400 a gallon caddie paint? Nope, $400 a QUART, LOL ask me how I know...

Very impressive. Who'd have thought? Cool.

Prairie Drifter...you sure you didn't misplace a couple of decimal points in there?? Dang, man--how many Cadillacs can you paint with a quart?

It would be nice to see some close up shots of the limb connection on Hal's super bow. Sounds like it's no longer ILF-adjustable and has been converted to a bolt down only.

Hal, couldn't you use a removable/reversible wedge so that you could set the the limb angle to give you two different draw weights?

Nice can't wait to shoot it.

The pictures of the mounting system are on my phone and it isn't with me...lol These are ILF limbs, the dovetail was removed and the original rockers that came with the riser were glued to the limbs. It is really quiet, as well.

Sure would like to see a close up better pic of that super exotic pricey paint ;^) It has nice lines and looks to shoot lights out, can't ask for more.
